Start the floor from the middle outwards and always use a chalk line to get your first row absolutely straight.

Wow, that was an amazing heavyweight mission. My back was feeling the strain just watching you move that monster Stove 👏👏💪💪

Always lay your floor from the middle outwards. That way all your scrap ends end up under your skirting boards
@thistinylife2 жыл бұрын
We did um and ahh but went for this option because we have quite a big expansion gap allowing for the pipes running either side so hopefully our maths will be right when we get to the other end!

Gem of a find with bath and stove. I suppose it may have been easier if the build happened on dry land but then there's additional costs. Well done
@thistinylife Жыл бұрын
Yep dry land with electric hook up would have been a bit easier, but hey...we're making it work! Thank you 😀 Can't wait to see the stove when we've cleaned it up 🙌

A trick my Dad taught me about tongue & groove flooring; cut yourself a sacrificial bit about a foot long with the groove on one side and no tongue on the other, then tack a piece of 2x4 on the other--tongue-less side--in an L-shape. That gives you something to hammer against to fit the individual boards tightly together. You can just slide your little piece along the tongue of the board you're fitting in, and tap it into position to nail it down. Saves a lot of time instead of moving the strapping around to clamp the boards together, like the video showed you doing. --Dan

Thanks Dan! We have been doing a bit of tappy tappy but weren't getting them as snug as we wanted without the clamps. The beauty of using second hand stuff!

Great vlog guys, this is such a good project you have going. Really enjoying seeing how it all comes together. The flooring is going to take a while but I’m sure it will look great and absolutely love the bath and stove 👍

Thanks so much Paul, means a lot! Amazingly we have finally finished the flooring so will be able to show that off in the next episode on Sunday 🙌

hiya guys, Are you sure the bath is a good move, I have been looking at boats for a few years and not many have Baths. it will drain your tank of hot water, but most of all did you do your measurement what your space you have for this installation. others have showers with a small bath shub. This is not negative but more of a thought.. an check measurements on your other stuff you need, will it fit? mmm ! John In New Zealand. Kaior mi tatou.
@thistinylife Жыл бұрын
Heya John! So the bath will be there as an option but won't be used all the time. We will have a shower over the top which we'll use most of the time. Space wise we will be ok, the edge of the bath tucks under the gunwales :)
@richardwall2692 Жыл бұрын
Great vlog!!!! Looking at that bath I have one question: how big is the water tank on your boat? 😉
@thistinylife Жыл бұрын
Haha I know what you're thinking! The bath will be reserved for special occasions when we manage to get near a waterpoint 😂
@ivorottleymusic2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video....Will you be able to carry enough water on board to have baths?
@davidwright69502 жыл бұрын
That’s also my thought, others are always struggling to get water and the time it takes to fill tanks, also how much it will cost to heat fir the bath
@thistinylife2 жыл бұрын
Most of the time we'll be showering but it gives us the option to have a bath when we moor near a water point! Luckily our winter mooring spot at the moment is next to one 🙂 And then with heating water - we'll be using solar dump in the summer and a backboiler on the woodburner in the winter so heating, hopefully, won't be an issue for us!

To be honest I was enjoying your videos up until Jack openly admits he doesn't have the confidence to drive the van and leaves it to Gabby to do . Maybe it's the new thing to admit to weakness, but it is not for me. Unsubbed.
