Were you able to figure out how to reconnect your trailer to your vehicle after the having it jacked up high?
@1MoreJH3 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. We want to avoid having the tongue jack too high so basically our trailer is a little slanted on the driveway when parked. However, as long as we don't run the refrigerator it hasn't been a problem for us.

Getting our trailer today and will see how much I would need to jack it up to level it out.

I am about to start my adventure and my greatest concern is exceeding towing capacity. Our trailer is considerably smaller and lighter than yours (Wildwood FSX 177BH) - I am wondering what is your tow vehicle? We have a Dodge Grand Caravan with towing package, and we can barely tow our trailer empty. Hopefully, after seeing your video and your towing vehicle, I will be less stressed about the pickup day. Thank you for your video!

Hi, Carlos. Super excited for you guys! My tow vehicle is a Dodge Durango that can tow up to 6,200 lbs. Is your tow package factory installed? Just making sure it's not one of those U-haul frame add-ons. I do think once packed you'll be pushing the limit of that Caravan. Also check the payload capacity of the van. Make sure you're comfortable there too before you pick up the trailer.

@@1MoreJH - After I asked about your tow vehicle I read about it in the comments - You are more than OK! As for us, I will be taking our trailer from the dealer to a seasonal campsite I am renting, dry, so I should be OK. This is plan for year 1 - Next year I might consider upgrading my towing vehicle so I am more mobile.

So a trailer with max weight of 6000 and vehicle at 6500 max you have to much rv for your vehicle always no more than 70% of your max vehicle tow to your rv max weight not your curb weight of your rv. I have seen to many accidents with this type of setup. For the most of the time all will work fine or you may never have a problem until your going down hill and need to slow down then the rv will try to pass you and flip over. Get at least 1/2 ton pickup.

How's it do behind the Durango?
@1MoreJH3 жыл бұрын
It does pretty well. Definitely use a weight distribution hitch, but otherwise no issues for me so far!

@1MoreJH3 жыл бұрын
@@ll2.3l22 I think anything up to 5,000 lbs will be good. Just make sure you have the factory trailering package. Anything after market will not get you the tow capacity that the factory package can.

@@1MoreJH what changes between the aftermarket and the tow package.
@1MoreJH2 жыл бұрын
@@matthewstrong3814 the after market hitches are bolted on whereas the factory hitch is welded to the car chassis. I believe the after market hitches usually max out at 3,600 lbs towing capacity

And this is why we have RV accidents….. your vehicle is too ridiculously small for that thing. Good grief man……..
