I grow them here in south east asia, Sabah, Malaysia.. Yes, they do come back every year..they became perennial here.. with full tropical climate.. hot & wet all year long..partial shade only..

oh my god this is first time someone from Malaysia I found on ranunculus vid! thank you! I wanted to plant them this year and kinda worry if they wont bloom. I wanna ask, they need full sun right? So when I first planted them, should I put them under full sun or under the shade?

@@aunisyahdah3648 Before sow.. better cold stratification them for at least 3 day to 1 weeks..after that soak them in warm water for abt 4 hrs.. you need to be careful.. dont sow them in soggy or wet 'potting' soil if not the crom will rot .. just spray/sprinkle the water .. exactly they do loves the heat here in our country . But, dont really like 'rainy season', cause the crom may rot. Put more 'perlite' on the potting mix.. if you buy the crom from Shopee, mostly they are from mainland China.. they will produce beautiful flower . But dont expected them to gve you big bloom in 1st year .

I'm growing ranunculus this year, but we're still in the 60-70's during the day and low 40's at night, so I'm hoping that they're going to bloom before it gets too hot!

Most spring planted ranunculus will still bloom, but the flowers may be a little smaller than normal. It really just depends on the weather. Good luck!

I bought some corms cheaply yesterday they looked so dried up that I almost threw them out but thought I'd give it a go as only spent £2:98 for 20 (bargain store). anyway after soaking overnight they plumped up but as the package had no instructions I went in search and found your video.. short and sweet yet informative. Hi. I live in the north of England. I planted about 100 ranunculus early this year and did everything the grower recommended. A few blooms came up and then we had an especially wet and windy summer. Apart from a few most turned yellow. I then planted them in pots. I got lots of lush greenery but no flowers yet. We are now into October and think it’s to late for this year. I was really disappointed but will try again next year. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed looking at how they should grow.

First, I wanna say just how informative this video is! I loved watching progress of these flowers! I’m getting married in March in Plant city Florida and I’m trying to grow my own ranunculus flowers. If I were to plant them before October around august or September do you think they will be blooming by the beginning of March?

Thank you for all the wonderful information you share with us. My ranunculus are done blooming, 9b, died back, pulled and in a paper bag in my closet. Time will tell if I can successfully get them to bloom again next year. I know I can keep them in the ground in my zone but with all the other flowers I grow I’m afraid they will rot due to daily watering all summer. I will be purchasing more as well.

This will be my first year to order corms and start them in late winter. We are a zone 8b BUT had 25 degree nights a bit this past winter. That makes me nervous to put a bunch of these out! However, you indicate they might be fine as long as some frost protection is offered on cold nights? I may try both methods, planting a few in the ground in late fall and then starting some in trays in January or February and pre sprouting. I fell in love with them after buying at a local store this spring. Your video is GREAT--the best one on ranunculus I have seen yet. Do you then wait for them to die down before digging and storing and what do you like to store them in?

I live in Memphis - zone 8a - so fairly close to your zone. Yours is the first video that seems to compare as far as seasons are concerned! I do have a 3 season porch (no heat or AC, but enclosed) and I'm tempted to treat this as a "greenhouse" and pre-sprout there, but am unsure as to when to transplant outdoors. We have such a short spring.... Can almost always get snow in mid Feb, and then the heat cranks up in mid-May. So, when to transplant outside?? or just let them be indoor plants in the porch full time? So excited to try this, but just not sure which is the best option. Thanks!

I'm just now finally seeing some buds. Warming up here in Maryland so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I bought some Italian Ranunculus and they aren't doing well at all, hoping they'll be a nice surprise next spring. Don't ask me the difference, they had me at Italian.

I decided to grow everything from seed/corm/bulb this year and was already thinking I’d bitten off more than I could chew😅 My first ever ranunculus have just started sprouting after only 3 days! Soaked, no aeration. Also planted about 50 Sweet Pea which I didn’t soak or file or snip the outside 🤭 Am I gonna get arrested by the horticulture police?!!😆😆😅

I have grown them 2 years in a row, and this year, I started to late last year and they bloomed just when it started getting warmer, so they didn't last very long , this year I ordered corms in late December and soaked for 3-4 hrs and they sprouted in my greenhouse under shelf on cool floor so it's dark,and they have sprouted beautiful green leaves but I see no buds as of yet. I am in Washington State zone 8 b and its April 4 th, it's been raining and 48-60 *and have been outside for about 3 weeks now and they are in single 5" pots , it's been about 5 months since I started these, do they need Sun? Hi I just found your channel and love this video. But would so so appreciate some guidance on what I think the problem is, watering! I have my ranunculus in pots in miracle grow soil and I do aerate it. I have them in a sunny south facing window with grow lights on them as well and bring them outside weather permitted during the day. Our weather is so unpredictable here in Michigan. It was 90 multiple days last week and 30 multiple days this week! Anyways, I have only been watering when the first inch or so of the soup seems dry but I don't water very deep just a few seconds on a water an. I have lost multiple plants to rot when I pull them the corm is mush, molding, roots are brown etc so I began watering a bit less. Most stems seem very weak! I cut them down and they grow back Strong and wider but I'm not sure how much this shocks plants? Just wondering if there's anything specific I could change and potentially have some flowers this season. I'm worried haha! It's my first season.

Hi there, I live in the pacific NW zone 8b and I directly sowed my corms into a raised garden bed, full sun area and they overwintered without any protection. They bloomed so beautifully this year! I just make sure it doesn’t get watered during the summer months and come fall they will pop up again.

How do you keep the soil damp over the two weeks? Do you just spray it? I feel like my potting mix keeps drying out and I’m only dampening the top of the soil but the bottom is still dry. I pulled out a few corms and there is some white fuzziness between the “bananas” lol. I’m assuming that’s mold? Not sure what to do at this point :/ I’m in 7b. Should I just put them in the soil? Water once and Hope they sprout?

I only water the trays if they look like they're starting to dry out. They need to be moist, but if they're too wet, they might rot. Once transplanted into the ground, I never water them in the winter - especially with freezing temperatures. Since your zone is warmer, it may be necessary if things get exceptionally dry. So it sounds like saving corms to replant is not easy? I'm trying to figure out what if anything I should do with my corms when they're done blooming. I think they actually reproduce so one corm turns into many by the end of the season. Not sure the best way to dry and store them though.

@@charleneskalmusky5509 No, I kept them inside until the weather was better. They've gone overnight with lows around 39, but nothing worse than that. The videos I've watched says they're fairly cold tolerant which seems to be true.

In my experience depending on the variety, they range from $.75 to $3.50 for some of the super fancy varieties! It has gone up a little since the pandemic but that's everything...!

I just bought some but I live in zone 10a. It’s already in the nineties every day. Is there a way to keep them like maybe in my refrigerator until fall? They say they are perennial for my zone but if the don’t like hot weather I don’t see how they will live here. I don’t know what to do with the corns that just came in the mail today.

I definitely wouldn't refrigerate them. The best bet may be storing them in a cool, dry place until they can be planted when the weather cools down in the fall. Good luck!

So I missed my window to get my ranunculus corms sprouted, can I just keep them and wait for the fall? I’m not sure how long the store inside.

I'm not sure. I imagine waiting would be the best choice until spring. They can be planted out pretty early though, just as long as they have been presprouted and chance of severe freezes have passed. Good luck! 🌱🌱🌱

So I pre-sprouted successfully and transplanted them successfully and they look ok but....no buds at all yet😐. Any suggestions? ZONE 6A

Same here, I’m in zone 6B. I planted them out a long time ago.

I'm 5b and no blooms either! I'm getting stressed that it'll get too hot before they bud!

They'll likely still bloom. The first time I planted them, I did so in spring. They didn't bloom until early June! Good luck! :)

I have 2 measly corms that I just put in soil to sprout..can I grow them in pots? Your flowers are from another world...so beautiful!
