Thanks, Elisha, for making it clear where and why the paddle should be held at ready. First comprehensive video I’ve seen on this topic, valuable lesson, will be sharing with only a selected few 😂

The ready position at the NVZ depends on the level of your opponent. If you are playing with less skilled people they are just as likely to hit the ball at your face as at your feet. So, if you are expecting a shot to your feet and put your paddle in Zone 1 and someone drills it at your face, guess what? The pros all hit the ball at the "right" target so ready position is much more obvious compared to playing with amateurs who hit the ball all over the place.

Played in a scramble type tournament this weekend and as I watched, almost NOBODY got into a ready position. The one's that did were in the finals. I think people try to appear casual like they are above it all. Just a thought. ( or maybe just lazy ).

Those that got into ready position/athletic stance most likely played a sport that requires that stance... Tennis, baseball, basketball, etc.

JW Johnson is only exception that always keeps his paddle in position 1 plus he has almost no foot movement...yet he is top 3 player

This video is best played at the x1.5 speed for me. The talk is way to slow otherwise, for me.
