One of the things I’ve been struggling with is remembering to let head high shot go on out. It’s my natural instinct to try and hit the ball every time.

Like your first tip. What you didn't say but clearly demonstrated was the lobs are best hit as you are at the kitchen, not when you are at the baseline.
