We went to a dealership and looked at the Tahoe and Suburban parked side by side, we liked the Suburban for our needs because we like to keep the 3rd row folded down and use the extra rear cargo space the Suburban provides.

Tahoe. Both are huge but Suburban is going to be a bigger challenge in urban areas and parking. Beautiful red/blacked out trim - and great mpg!

Looking at the new Tahoe I wonder if there was even a budget at all for this refresh. That Suburban’s interior is gorgeous! It gives Tesla Model X vibes with practical switchgear with the big thin displays and white/grey leather. Absolutely well executed down to the powertrain options. No matter what they do *gm* seems to effortless outclass the rest of the automotive industry here. It’s honestly amazing to watch in real time. Not sure folks quite understand the chokehold they have on this segment but I admittedly see why people fall in love with this SUV.

If I’m going full size, I’m going full size. So Suburban. Tahoe offers a bit better turning radius and break over angle. But if either of those matter than maybe a midsize option would be better anyway. A friend has the Z71 Sub, that is a ski trip cheat code compared to my Wrangler.
@DyingCatalystАй бұрын
I was about to ask what the difference is between the two. Didn't realize it wasn't that big of a difference

Sub has a longer wheelbase and rear overhang. So the second row has a bit more legroom, and the third row has a ton more than Tahoe. Tahoe replaced the 2 door Blazer 30 years ago. It can fit in more garages being shorter.

Familt of 6 and my 2005 yukon works even with the small space behind third row but can only use some duffle bags and a suitcase with one of the third row seats taken out. I want a 2017/2018 regular Tahoe/Yukon to replace my ‘05. That space in those years has enough room with third row up for gear for a family of 6 so no need for a suburban or XL yukon.

While I'd prefer a Diesel Suburban, the extra difficulty trying to fit into today's smaller parking slots would make me take a Tahoe, plus the large price difference for 18" of extra interior space.

Great video. Love the Tahoe and Suburban both! Only feedback when you compare the 6.2L gas vs the 3.0L diesel fuel pricing .. in my area in Indiana… diesel is about $0.50 cents less per gallon than premium. And about same price if not still a few cents cheaper than mid-grade gas. So in my area the diesel would be a better pick as it relates to total cost of ‘fuel’ ownership. I’m sure diesel costs across the country vary quite a bit and this advantage may not be true everywhere. Again, loved your video!!!!
@ivankorth4458Ай бұрын
I’d love a 25 suburban with the diesel , but I need to idle for hours a day with my job and idle on these diesels I’ve heard will mess up the DEF system.
@koharu.mochiiАй бұрын
Can you tell more about this? I'm new to learning about the functions of diesel & I was considering the 3.0l duramax. I'm aware the mpg's are better, but maintanence is a bit costly with having the def system.
@PickuptrucktalkАй бұрын
Yeah, don’t idle diesel engines. That’s an old school thought. The more you idle, you more you run the risk of plugging up the DPF since it doesn’t get hot enough to burn off the excess soot.

Though I'd probably wait a few years and a quite a few thousands in depreciation before considering it. As up here in Canada, they'd be $150K
@erniearruda8861Ай бұрын
If I was going to buy a big suv , I would get the Tahoe RST with the diesel , just for fuel economy. I own a 2004 Tahoe LT with the 5.3 vortex and right now she is a pig on fuel 16 miles to the gallon,in metric for us Canadian 16 litre per 100 km😱500 km per tank on a good warm day in the summer and about 460 km in the winter here in Southern Ontario Canada. Reality hits when you can’t afford 90 thousand plus taxes on top of that.

Ever seen a GMT1XX SUV from behind parked next to a Ford Expedition? The GMT1XX's rear end tapers so much, compared to the Expedition it looks like the Expedition is half a foot wider when the GM SUVs' width is wider. The proportions are wrong on this generation of GM full size SUVs
