I'm starting to wonder if people know what was in style in the 1920's, because a fitted waist, floor length mermaid isn't it. 1920's brides would opt for a straight sillhouette, drop waist, and hemline that wouldn't go above the knee, but never floor length, Juliette Cap style, and very lengthy veil. She was less lucky and more clueless. She said 20s but clearly wanted something 40s or 50s. 20s dresses were literal sacks with no figure hugging going on. The idea was to look as boyish as possible, waiflike, boxy. She wanted Hollywood starlet. Those two ideas are worlds apart.

She did NOT explain it perfectly. She wanted 20's, and the first gown was the most 20's I have ever seen at that shop. Then she stated herself that she did not know what she wanted when talking to David. She also said the dresses were too boring, but she chose the plainest dress she tried on.

@@catladyfromky4142 The most 20's looking dress was the one she liked the least. She does not know what the 20's dresses and the entire "20's look" was about. The only thing she got correct for the style is the dropped waist she said she wanted, but then abandoned as not what she wanted. The dress she ended up getting was very late 1950's/early 1960's evening dress, especially the neckline and the detailing around the neck.

I think the problem when brides mention one decade they feel inspired by, what they generally mean is the Hollywood take on the decade, and not the actual style of the time, so I think it would have been great for the consultants to ask a bit more about the shapes and fabrics she likes and not focus so much on the 20's elegance tagline.

This woman does NOT know what a 1920s silhouette is. The dress she chose is gorgeous, but definitely not 1920s. Which is fine, but when she kept insisting on 1920s and hating all of the 1920s dress and David called her out on it, she said she isn't confused. She isn't "picky", just misguided in her historical fashion.

When I get married you better know I’m spending ages trying on tons of dresses to find the perfect one. I’m shocked that some people can choose their dress after like 3 dresses. I want to try everything, make sure it’s perfect. This is a once in the lifetime event and it’s very expensive. I want to make sure that I get it right.

The problem is that she has no idea what a 1920s shape is. The first dress was closest to a 20s style, but even that had too much shape. She wanted something more along the lines of 1940s or 1950s: nipped in waist, sleek and hourglassy with that Hollywood starlet red carpet shape. There is nothing 20s in that vision. 😂

It's so tedious to hear women called "picky" when they're not thrilled with dropping a month's rent (or more) on a dress that vaguely meets the description they've asked for. Now, if you want to argue that wedding dresses aren't the end of the world and plenty of women throughout history got married in their best outfit, I'm with you. Probably not the energy to take to work if your job is to part women from their money for the 'perfect' dress.

Out of curiosity, I looked her up on Facebook and she actually didn't end up going for the dress she said yes to in this video. The pictures on her fb profile are from her actual wedding day, and show her in a more fitted lace dress, not 1920s, and it looks lovely on her! I suspect she felt a bit pressured to say yes to something on the show and then changed her mind afterwards. Happy she found her dress in the end!

She's not picky, she's confused. She asked for a 20s style dress, but what she really wanted was the extremely opposite, Hollywood glam. People were looking for her description of a dress and she never liked it because it wasn't what she actually wanted, that's the biggest skill a consultant has to have: be able to know what the bride wants even if they don't know themselves

I feel like I just have to stand up for brides all around the world 🙈… there is no such thing as being too picky when it comes to picking your wedding dress! It’s one dress that you wear one time for this huge day that means the world to you. Of course you want it to be perfect! ❤️🌹 i remember trying on dresses somewhere and the ladies kept saying ‘she has no idea what she wants’… I did know what I DIDN’T WANT! How about that? IMHO…… the shop should get a few Juliette cap veils…… they were popular in the 1920’s…… Satin Sheath gowns with paneled lace trains, cowl necklines, pointed sleeves at the wrist! Let’s try to be a little more authentic!!

If you want some 20s authenticity, they need very dropped waists with absolutely nothing fitted, higher hemlines, lots of lace and satin could be used, maybe pleats in the skirt...oh, and the correct undergarments, please!!! 20s are shapeless sacks. I say that lovingly.💗

I really liked the second dress. Also, often people get different ideas of a style. If you go and look for 1920s, it shows you varied dresses because most of them are inspired and not actually the 20s style. If you're bending towards a certain style, you must bring some pictures/ drawings to base an idea to go with...

Lots of people liked her dress, so much that an entire decade of wedding dresses had aspects of her dress incorporated into them. Like it or not, her dress was loved by many at that time. Styles change, so judging a dress by today's stylistic appeal or, like the OP, acting like her opinion serves as THE opinion is rather egocentric.

The first one was too old for her. It's something like a veteran a-lister of Hollywood would wear on the read carpet with all the shimmer. I do love dresses cut like that, especially the neckline. Very classy, flattering and timeless. Just the fabric is too heavy. I like the second one and it's got aniceshape and neckline but the satin is really unforgiving. It gives her a belly she doesn't have. The shoulders also look like add ons. THe last one is nice and very elegant except for the skirt. Like someone sewed a hula hoop to the bottom- why???
