White smoke on Saab 9-5 - the turbo or the head gasket is damaged.
Checking first the turbo shows that the turbo is damaged.

I did this for the first time about 1 month ago. My knowledge up until this had been changing spark plugs and tires. Impressive that you managed to fit 9 hours of work, sweat, curses, tears and bloody hands into a 4 minute video.

Wd40 works best on Saab, and I've used pb blaster and wd 40 works just fine. Also, wd40 cleans better than degreeser

Excellent overview. I've watched it several times before removing the blown turbo in my 2001 Saab 95 SE V6. Although your appears to be a 4-cylinder, much of the process appears to be the same. Now I'll have to watch it in reverse to get it all back together! One question: Did you get a whole new turbocharger or just the CHRA?

Great instructional video. Little Fact: wd40 is not a penetrating oil. CRC or pb blaster are better for the application

Awesome clip, but Always clean the oilsump out before you replace the turbo. Its usualy full of shit that clogs the pickup and the entire oilrecirculing system. if presure is low, the new turbo might as well end up like the old one in the matter of days, weeks or perhaps even 1-2 months

Remus, haw did you decide that the turbo was broken? I have been told that there is a serious problem with the crankcase ventilation system but for now I am tackling a different issue - fuel pump. I am also very close to getting a new turbo. Almost bought one two days ago.

It started to throw out white smoke. It was so much that I almost had a big cloud behind the car, making others slow down behind me. I just drove the car back home then and started to check what was wrong.

We replaced the turbo charger in our 2003 Saab 9-3 linear and changed the dash on the inside of the of car. Now, the lights on the inside and headlights come on but the engine will not turn over. We found that the car will not start because it went into a security lock down to prevent the car from being stolen. We need to figure out what to do with the code the engine security light gave us. It blinked twice consecutively then stopped for a second. Blinked twice followed by a brief pause. Then blinked two more times followed by the end of the sequence (no more blinks). What should we do to unlock the engine and allow the car to start? Any information would greatly help and is appreciated. Thanks!

@SvanbergSimon
@SvanbergSimon 9 жыл бұрын
Steve McCabe if the car is security locked you can always try to lock it using the remote and then unlock it. then try to start it. it sometimes solves the problem with the car bein immobilized. it depends on the reason to why it is immobilized i think.
