My biggest peeve is when someone treats an animal like just a pet or a “toy” or a disposable object for little kids to play with. I appreciate you treating the fairy shrimp as actual living beings.

This is a massive problem with tiny animals like hamsters. The video "HAMSTER HELL" by Lee Haedcastle actually shows what can happen when children are left to care for tiny creatures by themself. The video is exaggurated for the sake of comedy and shock value, but alot of the things that happen in that video actually happen to some extent, and it's depressing. Young children shouldn't be allowed to have pets they can hold in their hand without SERIOUS parental supervision, because most of the time they don't see the creatures as living beings with their own feelings. They just see a cute little fluffy thing that they can do whatever with.

Stubborn sticker tip: Soak the item/sticker in warm water with a couple drops off dish soap and 1/4 cup of vinegar. Come back in 1-2 hrs and it should literally fall off. The residue can be wiped and rinsed off easily. I just learned this all today, cleaning a jar with a massive sticker. Easiest sticker removal of my life. Hope it works well for others too!

Phew…you used Sea Monkeys. I need eye surgery and thought it contained fish, lol. Great set up in a tiny package. I had these as a kid. I did look at some under my microscope. They are so cool! And you added lenses. Although you are probably correct, I will make the point that humans have assumed “simple” animals don’t experience stress, pain, emotion, etc., before and were oh so wrong. Love the video! 7:03
@nowandaround312
@nowandaround312 6 ай бұрын
Yeah, there's no scientific consensus on whether animals with very simplistic brains have a consciousness. I think any animal that isn't part of a superorganism must have the capacity to experience some kind of stress, because they have to care about finding food and fighting off predators. If Sea Monkeys do experience stress though they likely aren't bothered by living in a small aquarium as long as they have enough space to move around.

We were already looking at the most obscure official and some unofficial tanks, if we're reaching diy tanks then sky's the limit! I've now added the giant Tic-Tac box to my Wishlist, whether or not I turn it into a novelty aquarium or to grow algae is still in debate. I haven't eaten Tic-Tacs in years, I'm sure I'll have to give many of the mini boxes inside away to family and friends but they might think I'm telling them their breath is bad since Tic-Tacs are sort of like mints. There is absolutely no way I'll manage to eat 420 tic-tacs on my own. Also, frankly, had I not found out about what that episode of South Park was about I would have never gotten the reference and "that" detail! That's the only Easter egg I found on this vid so if you put more I've either already forgotten about it or completely missed it xD. I actually have a lot of empty Tic-Tac containers, a few regular sized ones and the bigger ones that I've only seen in Walmart, reason why is because I like buying mixed bags of seed beads and these make great containers for them after I've sorted them. I just need some aquarium sand and cute décor and I'll definitely have my own mini aquarium for them! Plus I think they would be a good alternative for transporting them other places if one doesn't own the keychains and pens where you can put the sea-monkeys in. And regarding my growing Sea-Monkeys tank collection I think I'm gonna buy a few more Ocean Zoos in different colors and probably stop until a new fun tank shows up and catches my attention, I am definitely still hoping to find a Sunken Treasure tank but for the time being it's going to be impossible xD. I've yet to grow my own algae but after this week I'm hoping I can and that it'll help my Sea-Monkeys thrive. Thank you so much for making these videos and educating us more on these awesome little creatures. Hope you have a great day!

I also had a. Obsession with sea monkeys since my parents said I was to young for a regular aquarium with fish. At one point I remember having some thre or four regular sea monkey tanks in varieties of shapes and sizes and about ten or so tic tac aquariums along my window, the tic tac tanks always did surprisingly well given the small size, but since they were a hard plastic they made the perfect little tanks. Being an always child is even sell the tic tac tanks to my neighbor hood freinds! This video brought back great childhood memories of a much simpler time 😊

This is amazing! Tic Tac will see a surge in sales LOL. But seriously, this is my favorite video! Love the microscope photos too! Did you pipe air into the tic tac container, or did the algae provide the oxygen?
@pico-cosmos
@pico-cosmos Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I used the pipette to aerate the tic tac container for the first week or so, but once I’d given them some algae I basically stopped with it

This is so cool! I got recommended this video and I figured why not, and I’m glad I clicked on it. I’ve been binging your videos, and they’re always so well made. I’m seriously considering getting some sea monkeys of my own in the next year because of you and all your excellent videos. Cheers!

Hello, so my colony has passed away and I wanted to add more sea monkeys in there, but the water is full and there’s a great amount of microalgae. Do I add packet number 2 and do nothing else or dump out the water and try again I really hope you see this because I’m really trying to get another colony again.
@pico-cosmos
@pico-cosmos Жыл бұрын
I believe packet #1 actually has more eggs than packet #2. That being said I’d probably just recommend pouring the tank water out and starting again. Don’t clean the tank though, the algae in there should survive for the next batch :)

Hey thank you very much for responding! I will do that and make sure to keep as much algae in there as possible love your videos by the way keep up the good work!

I swear this app thinks I’m spam. It would be cool if you branched out in snail egg kits for classrooms, triops, or butterfly grow kits for kids. If they still made Instant fish like Wham-o did back in like 1962. (Sorry if you got three of these comments the last two went missing)
