The word "getting" can indeed imply various contexts and nuances in human language use. Let's break down the primary connotations and typical uses of "getting" based on linguistic and semantic analysis: Transaction or Acquisition: "Getting" often implies the act of acquiring or obtaining something. This can be in the form of a purchase, a gift, or any other form of acquisition. For example, "I am getting a new car" suggests that the speaker is in the process of acquiring a new car. Request or Expectation: In some contexts, "getting" can imply a request or expectation. For example, "I am getting help from my friend" could imply that the speaker expected or requested assistance and is now receiving it. Entitlement or Result: It can also suggest a sense of entitlement or the result of a predefined expectation. For instance, "She is getting a promotion" implies that the promotion is a result of her performance or entitlement to that reward based on her work. Demand or Settlement: The word can suggest a demand settlement or a reward. For example, "He is getting his due" implies that a reward or settlement is being provided to the individual as a result of some prior action or agreement. In essence, "getting" encapsulates the idea of moving from a state of not having to having, often accompanied by an underlying cause or reason, whether it be through a request, entitlement, expectation, or demand. This multifaceted usage of "getting" reflects its versatility in the English language to convey different aspects of acquisition and fulfillment. To provide a more comprehensive understanding, we can consider several authoritative linguistic sources: Oxford English Dictionary (OED): The OED defines "get" as to "come to have (something); receive" and notes various usages that align with acquisition, entitlement, and demand. Merriam-Webster Dictionary: Merriam-Webster defines "get" as to "gain possession of" or "to receive as a return: earn," which again supports the notions of transaction, expectation, and reward. Cambridge Dictionary: The Cambridge Dictionary includes definitions such as "to obtain, buy, or earn something," further highlighting the transactional and acquisitive nature of "getting." By considering these sources, we can conclude that your assessment is largely correct. The word "getting" indeed implies various forms of acquisition and fulfillment, encompassing requests, expectations, entitlements, and settlements in its usage.

Absolutely, but that first month or so that it takes to get them to adulthood can be a little tricky, especially if it's your first time. Once that's out of the way, and especially once you have algae established, just feed them and top up the water as necessary. They're probably easier to care for than the average houseplant.

The easiest way is to just buy a second Sea-Monkey tank yeah. You can do a DIY tank, but it’s more complicated and takes some practice
@jic1 Жыл бұрын
@@pico-cosmos As somebody who once attempted a completely from scratch tank (i.e. generic brine shrimp eggs, no official Sea-Monkey products at all) and failed miserably after several attempts, you're right (although I've got the rest of the eggs in the freezer, so I might give it another go someday now that I know more). However, I found simply transferring Sea-Monkeys from my 'official' colony to my DIY tank to be incredibly easy. Maybe I was just lucky, I don't know. I think an important factor for success was that I took a couple of pipettefuls of the sludge from my established tank and put them in the new one, so I had a head start on establishing algae and other useful microorganisms.

Hey John! Wanted to thank you for all your tips on hatching and raising brine shrimp! Using your advice, I set up a little 7L tank with a little heater and air line (though I needed a bigger heater than the USB one lol!), and now I have dozens of babies swimming happily! I tried with sea monkeys first, but alas, the packets had absorbed moisture and were full of goop, so I ended up getting some artemia salina eggs intended for brine shrimp hatcheries. I have some astaxanthin on the way to feed them too, so hopefully soon they’ll be cute and pink! Thank you for all your advice 🥰🥰🥰 I wanted to ask, do you know if anything can share a tank with them? @pico-cosmos can i use diluated sea water at 1.102% w/v sodium chloride and purified water ingredients from a spray bottle of a hydrating nasal care sea water solution (Hydrasense) as purified water for my sea-monkeys ?

Can the algae still grow without a grow light
@pico-cosmos Жыл бұрын
Yup! Sunlight is the best way to get algae to grow

So my son got sea monkeys for Xmas. Some hatched but immediately die. I thought I did everything right. Its not overly cold in NZ ATM. I've brought a new set of the packets and gonna try again as haven't seen any in 5 days. I've ordered a heat pad and hoping thats what it is.

Make sure that the first feeding is reeeeally small. The babies need barely any food

@@pico-cosmos attempt two is starting well. Water temp is higher and I've seen 3 babies from just the purified water packet. Will be adding eggs packet in a day. Waiting on a grow light and proper seedling mat. Thank you for your videos they have help so much

@@pico-cosmos well that cold night made the heat pad not do it's thing and they all but one died. Little disheartening.

@shaythellama5200 sorry to hear :/ I’ve found that the mini usb aquarium heaters are more effective than heat pads

If you place your tank near an indirect source of sunlight, do you still need the grow light? Isn't that what the sun is for?
@pico-cosmos Жыл бұрын
In my experience the more light that algae receives the fast it grows. Direct sunlight is actually ideal for algae, but it’s too hot for the shrimp

I already used tap water! Are they gonna be okay?

So I was wondering if you could do a video hatching these at different temperatures as an experiment to see witch promotes the best growth health and longevity 🤞🏼🤞🏼 like I mean 104 F• 80F• 90 F• 70F• all the way down to 20F • with the heater

Why not get a snail or 2 to passively keep the tank clean?
@pico-cosmos9 ай бұрын
Finding saltwater snails that can tolerate the heat is difficult :/

Ours really grew large when we put them into a larger tank and we got toys for them to play with! It was incredible! But they don’t sell toys for them anymore, do you have any tips for toys by any chance?😃
