Fortunately the play was dead already. Williams (2) possessed it and fell to the ground. As soon as 9 fell on him the play was dead (down by contact) and the ball squirting out didn't matter. The player that picked it up had stepped out of bounds and was first to touch the loose ball. Which then becomes sticky. If they review and say Williams did not possess the ball, then that is a 5 Yard penalty, untimed down, retry the kick. If they rule Williams possessed it, then fumbled. It would still be a 5 Yard penalty, but end of game since it was post-possession change. But the ref blew it dead as soon as 9 touched 2 on the ground.

You mention the Lions. They put a 50 burger on the Titans. How? They had nearly 200 return yards. Most of the Lions drives that day started around the Titans 25. The Lions offense only had 225 yards because that is all the field they needed to cover to score. The Lions this week made two long field goals to win the game. You can tell what teams value special teams, and it wins them games. The Lions do it and it is a point of emphasis for Dan Campbell and his coaches. The Chiefs do it. It wins games.

@@darrellmessbarger3827 Time to get educated... first, the Lions nearly set an NFL return record that day. The NFL is almost 100 years old. There have been a lot of good teams vs bad teams. That special team achievement was out of the ordinary no matter the teams involved. Second, the Titans had the #1 defense at the time, they are a real NFL team with real NFL players, playing real NFL games. Your opinion that they are somehow a high school level team doesn't hold water. Third, my point wasn't about the 50 points scored (which is again, rare in any game against and NFL team), it was about the special teams. Lastly, if the Titans are so bad why has nobody else scored that many against them this season? hint: They have a good defense. So, again. The discussion was about special teams and them being important. The Lions special teams were important to the victory that day. You know... the topic we are supposed to be discussing that you seem to be missing by insisting the Titans have no talent..

Chiefs are paying attention to EVERYTHING! Even in this last superbowl so many 49er players said they weren't informed of new OT rules and didn't practice it. All Chiefs players interviewed with same question answered they had been talking about it and prepared for weeks. The coaches are on it - super strategic and detailed.

Most of the Chiefs on that special team play were defensive starters. Basically this poor lineman was 1 v 3 and 2 of the 3 Chiefs were a starting LB and a starting DE. No way he isn't going to get steamrolled by 3 guys.

The referee having a photo with Taylor Swift, this is a joke. No wonder the Chiefs has the more benefit or less penalties than their opponent's. There is no doubt subconsciously it plays on the referee's mind when there is a close penalty who will benefit. Taylor Swift might as well be on the sideline calling the penalties.
