That is freaking horrible on multiple levels. There's regular cheating, and there's cheating on your wife when she was probably taking care of a newborn (that was YOUR newborn, as well) and had most certainly just given birth and was even more vulnerable then regular new moms who don't have cancer. Heck, she could've died! Save the cheating for when the kids a toddler!

It's pretty common with major illness. They're neglected by necessity, burdened much further, and can't confide in their partner because that would add to the partner's stress. So an emotional connection with someone else where they can unburden themselves is a super strong release.

Her yanking the ex away by her hair and yelling at her is just awesome. It would be great if more parents held their adult children accountable for their crap rather than prioritizing image or some idea that family must back each other no matter what. I think you misunderstand what the MIL was doing. She knows a significant amount of the time she will get with her grandchildren depends on the charity of the parent with majority custody - which in this case with be the OP/father. The mother acting the fool is something MIL fears will poison the well for her chances of future time with her grandchildren so she is smacking da beech upside the head.
@tallyp.76437 ай бұрын
@@mnomadvfx Or, she's a mom with a conscience who knows her daughter did something selfish to hurt her family over a long period of time and isn't gonna accept it. Not every mom acts like their child's a precious flower who can do no wrong, so they'll support the truly wronged party due to the fact that it's right rather than a hypothetical fear. And there's nothing stopping the OP from letting MIL see the kids more often whether mom is there or not, especially if their in-law relationship has been rather good. It's the contentious ones where this fear of not seeing grandkids becomes more prevalent.

Ah I remember the first story. It's incomplete here. This is the best example why this bullshit about "no doesn't mean no" should be cut down. In a later update, OP finds out everything went down because the idiot wife wished he told her he would take her father's business and let her take care of the house and kids - but never expressed it out loud. She wanted him to read her mind basically. So she crushed the marriage for being a woke empowered woman. So, if you have a girlfriend or anything, and you go out to buy something to eat, ask her "want something?", and if she tells "no", don't buy her anything. If she tries to grab a bite later, forbid her and tell her you are no telepath and she better stop that bullshit and tell clearly the next time what she wants.

Damn. I mean, it may have taken her some years to come to the point where she could articulate the fact that she wanted to leave the company and stay home. Different personality types have different capacities for being direct about desires, or even feeling permission to have desires, and sure, when that gets into the lower levels of emotional intelligence, that can get into manipulation and dishonesty territory. The affair might have been a half-conscious, half-unconscious way of sabotaging things / dealing with anger. Women (and men) aren't 100% able to articulate every difficult thought or emotion all the time. People are complicated. Choose someone who is fairly well adjusted, no need to force the literal interpretation of every word on your partner.

If a man ever becomes a house husband, the female always gets resentful. Even if it was her idea. Some part of the brain still expects the man to be the provider. Seen this theme in a few of these stories.
@belooga-bj3pw7 ай бұрын
Yeah it's actually quite complex. A 2015 study conducted by Christin Munsch, a sociologist at the University of Connecticut, "Relationship between income dynamics and infidelity." The research found that women who are primary breadwinners are less likely to cheat. In fact, as their income contribution increases, especially when they derive 100% of the household income, their likelihood of infidelity decreases. However, other studies suggest that social expectations play a significant role. Specifically, when the husband earns less and does not contribute to household chores, the chances of a divorce increase dramatically, not cheating related. If couple can't accept financial situation and feels uncomfortable (cuz of social expectation) with each other cuz of it, this can lead to a sense of unhappiness within the couple due to unmet expectations in their head
