Check out the Autonomous SmartDesk here, along with their other stuff!
goo.gl/JeRZz3 (Affiliate)
Big fan of the SmartDesk 2 myself (thank you Autonomous for sending one over) for its ease of use, quiet motor, and top notch quality.
In this technological world, sitting in front a bright screen has become the norm. Whether that's sitting on the couch watching TV or sitting at your desk to get work done, chances are that you're currently sitting way too much. Knowing that, there have been a sprout of alternatives recently, and one of the more popular options is the standing desk. But now we have to ask: Is standing more actually better for you? Let's find out!

Thank you for this video. It has helped me. I recently had a very unnerving health scare. A huge part I believe is due to the drastic lifestyle change that occured after my promotion and simultaneous bike accident a few years ago. I used to bike and hit the gym daily, until I shattered my elbow. Once that happened I changed everything I was doing out of fear of pain. Combine that with my "promotion" in which I went from being active and on my feet and on the move all day, to suddenly sitting at a desk allllllll day. Attempting to take breaks but never really making a difference because of the workload that kept me there. (I manage a museum.) In any case, my scare only came days ago. I have an appointment with my PCP and will find out if I'm diabetic in a few days. I believe I am but will do everything possible for me, my wife and especially for my son to control my situation. Thankfully I have the authority to purchase a standing desk or standing modifier for myself. I'll likely buy one for my GM too. Just one more tool to improve my health along with major improvements to exercise and diet. This has been a life changing experience. To anyone reading this. Don't make excuses, make great choices for yourself. Not just for you, but for the ones you love as well. I'm making changes that I should've made long ago.

Great video, although I was surprised/hoped that you would cover the other alternative that has the LEAST(if any really) consequences, the TREADMILL DESK. The benefits of the standing, but without standing still, and the body is constantly moving,so less strain AND burn more calories with the benefits of walking! It would be cool if you could cover it in an update or part 2 video or at least edited to inform others in the comments :)

Curious about the Autonomous desk. I was thinking of getting one for a while, but can't tell how sturdy it is. I find it incredibly annoying when my monitors wobble when I type. So I need a sturdy desk to prevent that from happening. Any feedback on that you could provide? Thanks.

At school I just lean back with a straight back if that makes sense. Plus walking around with a good posture creates a good habit. And stretching your back alines your back. Stuff like touching your toes or putting your four head on your knees with your legs straight etc.Because I noticed a lot of people that just workout with weights are always tight.

Is laying down as bad as sitting down? I lay down all day because I had hip surgery and even before surgery as soon as i got home from work i would lay down all day because standing and sitting would cause pain. I often sit at my desk for up to 12 hours a day multiple weeks in a row and havent noticed anything like that. I am extremely skinny and have very low blood pressure and heart rate. Maybe it is becuase i have some compensation by cycling a lot on the weekends and having four hours of handball training a week.

I wonder the act of sitting, in & of itself, is what causes these various health issues, or if it's merely the correlation of these issues to people that ALSO sit a lot. Like, for example, if you have 2 people of similar biological characteristics who sit a lot, 1 trained & 1 untrained (out of "shape" even?) & 2 people who stand a lot, both trained & untrained, what will the results be?
