Nice reaction. System of a Down was my gate way into metal so I will forever be a fan. Being against war should not be political; it should be the position of all rational people who are not psychopaths. The fact that it is considered "political" to say that we should not kill each other is ridiculous.
@lakshen473 жыл бұрын
The thing is that "no war" is a utopia, so the political question to me is whether or not we should be prepared for it. Unfortunately, by extention, the best way to be prepared is to have tried it before.

Its funny how you said that imagery is heavy handed while i watched few other reactions where ppl said '' there is some message in this but i dont know what it is''. I am from Europe and i recognize every reference in this video, its amazing to watch americans reacting to this and having no clue what it refers to lol.

I thought the messaging was heavyhanded too, until I found some people that still managed to miss it. So it's not heavyhanded enough for some people somehow.

Empty walls is underrated, more people should react to this, and holy mountains, these songs are more relevant today than ever before

As a man who grew up with 9/11 happening, I fell victim to the Military industrial complex. I can't say for sure what happened, but i was only 5 or 6 years older than the kids in this video when this song came out. I grew up to sign a contract to die for what this song should've taught me not to fight for.

Lyrics: Your empty walls Your empty walls Pretentious attention Dismissive apprehension Don't waste your time On coffins today When we decline From the confines of our mind Don't waste your time On coffins today Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning Dying of anticipation Choking from intoxication Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning Dying of anticipation Choking from intoxication I want you to be left behind those empty walls Taunt you to see from behind those empty walls Those empty walls When we decline From the confines of our mind Don't waste your time On coffins today Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning Dying of anticipation Choking from intoxication Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning Dying of anticipation Choking from intoxication I want you to be left behind those empty walls Taunt you to see from behind those empty walls Want you to be left behind those empty walls I taunt you to see from behind those empty walls From behind those empty walls From behind those empty walls, the walls From behind those empty walls I loved you yesterday (from behind those empty walls) Before you killed my family (from behind those empty walls, the walls) Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning Dying of anticipation Choking from intoxication Don't you see their bodies burning Desolate and full of yearning Dying of anticipation Choking from intoxication I want you to be left behind those empty walls Taunt you to see from behind those empty walls I want you to be left behind those empty walls I taunt you to see from behind those empty walls From behind those empty walls From behind those fucking walls From behind those goddamn walls Those walls, those walls

This song represents my generation. I was kid when this war started, I ended up fighting 2 tours in afgahnistan. The whole video is about no matter who's side your on its the children that pay the price fighting the battles. God 🙌

More orchestral or symphonic than pop, but i still agree
@dvpemberton4 жыл бұрын
His orchestral work and the Sydney Orchestra collaboration on Elect the Dead are great. He's very under rated as a musician. He's also written several film scores. SOAD are still technically together but with Serj and Malakion doing other side projects their studio and touring work has been shelved.

And one of those children grew up to be a United States Marine, and after 5 tours in Iraq, and one in Afghanistan... has been in therapy for a decade. I’m a slow learner... but I get it now. Heart broken. But proud of my brothers and sisters for bearing the bullshit of a Nation. Live life. Love.

That is indeed true, he has a nasaly voice. But it didnt used to be that way. His voice changed around 2004/2005. Listen so system of a down toxicity, steal this album and the self titled album. You’ll see that it wasnt nasaly back then. The biggest noticeable difference is on their live shows

Love the reaction! Serj does have a clear political bend and this resonates throughout his artistry. Appreciate the receipt sans political commentary (which as you pour out- serj resonates within his music)... but from a strictly musical perspective- LOVE this song! Personally from a lyrical content perspective- love this song! Serj is a very fascinating and introspective artist that I truly hope more ppl become acquainted with. Human rights- yes sir! And again- putting the politics aside.... this is music to be appreciated transcendent of political views. Bravo serj and to this channel for bringing great music to us and honest reactions to it! Keep it the hell up!!!!!!!

I really want to like this and System of a Down, but I just can't get past his vocal "style." It's always sounded like contrived tone-deaf yelling to me. It just doesn't do it for me. Meh, to each his own. I appreciate the video nonetheless Hedgy. Keep 'em coming!

i have noticed that his voice is something that you either like or you don't like, i personally love his voice, but i do get why some people don't
@JamesStreck03126 жыл бұрын
john doe everything he does, to me, sounds like he's tone deaf. To my ears he's very flat and off key. The earlier stuff like I said sounded more contrived almost like that was the intent and he was was trying to pass it off as a style. It just doesn't do anything for me. Of course, this is merely my opinion.
@JamesStreck03126 жыл бұрын
john doe I was more stating that it was my opinion he sounded off key. Whether he actually was or not I have no idea, it just sounded that way to me. I've only heard the main SOAD "hits" like Chop Suey, BYOB, etc. They turned me off enough that I had no desire to pursue anything else. I really like the band, but the vocals completely ruined it.

I don't hear the tone deaf and flatness because I sing in choirs and we've had people who were tone dead, and I do mean dead because really! And they wanted to sing. Ouch. But still everyone to their own ears. Voice is like beauty. You either like or don't it's not universal.
