I Love this show, from "The Pilot" onward. Still have a Gran Torino. Still have 2 or 3 pairs of blue/white Adidas. But one thing I don't have? "Where the hell are the cops?" @6:46. Never seen a courthouse that empty. Never figured it out.

This episode was directed by Paul-Michael Glaser. As such, he has very few scenes. His direction takes an artsy approach, unusual for the show, such as Hutch and Captain Dobey seen speaking through large green bars, close to the camera, blurry and dark images and the like. The topic being rather dark and depressing---the Manson murders had taken place barely 8 years prior---and the weird direction, swayed parts of the international market negatively, resulting in certain European countries, such as France, deciding not to purchase the rights to air this episode in their nation.

You know, honestly they didn't have to make up some weird backstory about Starsky going to the bathroom. It could have simply been that Starsky really needed to go pee. And also, to be honest, PMGs acting, blindfolded in that pit, would have put William Shatner to shame. Talk about chewing the scenery. Well, it was broadcast in standard definition, so I think the producers thought it wouldn't be noticeable. It's blink and you'll miss it. Also, I think Starsky and Hutch was late at night around 9 pm. EDIT: sources I found say that the show aired at 10 pm.
