it was pretty obvious jane was cutthroat like her father which is why he adored her. she was more like him than both her brothers despite her hating him. i think her daughter was probably the first time she ever loved anyone unconditionally - i felt from the beginning she seemed more apart of it than was led on. she seemed to have more anticipation than even nick.

Andy’s actions made no sense for someone who’s mother is alive. If her mom was dead then her stupid actions would make more sense to try to figure out who her mother was and what she did. Mom said she would tell her everything when she came back but instead of going to her mother she decides to play the most stupid and useless detective while getting herself caught up and making everything worse for everyone while ignoring the one person who could answer all of her questions and keep her safe. That girl is making the show hard to watch. I love Toni Collette and wish she had a bigger role than that annoying rash of a daughter.

I thought that Laura’s (Jane’s) father may have been molesting her and got her pregnant, therefore was trying to kill Andy as no one could ever find out what he was doing to his own daughter. Why else would he try so rigorously to poison her and cause a miscarriage. In turn why would Jane want him dead so bad… seems stupid to kill him when she could just run away and never come back 🤷‍♀️ Bit killing him because he sexually abused her and was now trying to kill a baby that is either his or Nicks, is understandable… have to admit Janes father acted very creepy towards her. I think this will come out next season … that he was drugging her to rape her and Jane is unsure of who Andy’s real father is… that is my guess.
@Ramadanm

Glad I am not the only one who thinks this way. Through the show, it seemed like the father was molesting her. It is stupid to kill her father just because she wants her to be like him. It only makes sense if the father was abusing her.

I came here to see if I wasn’t the only one that picked up on that. It’s interesting that it was women that did lol! I am glad I am not the only one thinking like I did ,I picked up on lots of hints they put in the show. Like nick didn’t know she was pregnant, when he asked why she didn’t tell him she said you send me to spy on my father, She looked more like Andrew of course that’s gave it away, and also fathers behavior toward her daughter didn’t look natural to me.it’s lot more than I am writing. But if there is another series after this writer always wants us to think one way and than it comes out completely different way.

My problem with Toni Colette is a casting issue. Not so much with her but with the actress playing her as a youth. The cute younger her doesn't match up well with Toni who has never been "cute." Colette has always been a borderline character actor because she looks very everywoman, a bit on the ordinary side. They should have looked harder for an actress to play her when she was young.

Completely disagree with some critics below. This was a very engaging, actually moving story, and has some depth as well. On the side, a reminder of the sad radicalism of a younger generation depicted that went nowhere, rightly enraged by the world's injustices, corporate greed and much else, reminded me of many such groups in the early 70s (though the references are to the 80s), of Patty Hearst, the Weathermen, The Angry Brigade (UK), in Italy, Japan, Baader-Mienhof (W. Germany), etc. That said, the madness of people taking wrong directions in life is very convincing for me, and the plot - as extreme as some might think - is quite believable owing to brilliant acting and a wonderfully constructed plot. The claim (below) that the story 'sagged' in the middle I would disagree with, as the slow pace in parts helps lead to a long contemplative ending ... life after all, goes on, and the survivors have to sort it out. A great series.

Disappointed in this series. They made look like Janes father is a molesting her and hated him so much for that. TBH, Jane’s is a spoiled little brat and killed her father because he hates her boyfriend and wants her to have a career. She hated him so much because he is controlling not because his of his business or whatever Nicks hates her father for.

The only reason a daughter would want her father killed would have to be for a very ugly reason, so he was definitely molesting her. Had she let Nick follow through with his plan instead where he kills him then there’s no story unless she’s a psychopath and just wanted the business but that’s not the case because THE story is about her baby

It could have been good, but there was way too many weird and unrealistic scenes. I guess they wanted to make it more interesting but it just turned weird instead. Like why would the daughter all of a sudden act like a detective from nowhere like she has been waiting for that moment her entire life ? They added way too much stuff and none of it was explained or made any sense what so ever. In every scene it was like “why” all the time, like the daughter from nowhere kissing the cop while they were running from an attacker, like ok.. 😅

It seems to me that the murder of her father in Oslo is a bit of a plot hole. Wasn't Nick and Jasper's plan to do away with the father? The discussion between Nick & Jasper clearly state that Jasper can take over, was he supposed to be embarrased by the onstage theatrics of Grace Juno. I don't find it convincing that as Nick stated 'that no one was supposed to die' , I mean they went to a lot of trouble to kidnap Maplethorpe and even though her death is sort of an accident, kidnapping is pretty serious as a lot of things can go wrong (which they did). I'd give it 7/10
@kforest2745
@kforest2745 11 ай бұрын
Well the hostage wasn’t supposed to die but Jane’s father was, he was supposed to die in the chair by the detonator that was in Nick’s hand, but Jane took that away from him by getting the woman to shoot him instead. Jane’s mission is the safety of her daughter, the rest of everything is her plan to keep it complicated so that the authorities the media and Nick and her family never figure it out/the family secret, so she interferes in a lot of it even confusing her brother Jasper who says “You know, I never understood you, Jane” where she tries to complicate it even more by getting him to interfere with the case.

@MizMima
@MizMima 2 жыл бұрын
First Andy is the most dislikable character, second the scenario to make sense of the weird relationship Jane’s dad had with her and why she basically KILLED him, is if he was sexually abusing her and that maybe Andy is his (or not), other than that it doesn’t make any sense why she’d kill him, especially since Jasper and Nick supposedly planned it all along. If Jane did what she did, Nick is allowed to be mad for 30 years.

It was a paint bomb, like the one they'd practiced with on the chair in the woods. The woman was supposed to throw money at him which contained the 'bomb' and he'd be covered in fake blood which Nick would designate. It was intended to embarrass him in the hopes he'd step down. But Jane gave her a gun in the switched bags. The shooter was unhinged because Queller drugs had caused her husband to kill her children. ... if I'm understanding that part correctly! So many twists in the story.

So, she got the paint bomb from under the toliet lid. Nick left it there for her. He likely put it there days before the hotel became a seminar venue. If you remeber the scene out in the woods where they are tossing money at a chair and the it explodes into a red cloud when it lands in the chair becouse Nick presses a button to detonate it. Later Nick also says: "It's symbolic. We cover him in red paint to symbolise the blood he has on his hands." So all they where going to do is cover him in red paint like the Vegan activist do to people who wear fur. And then Nick thought that the bad publicity would mean that Martin (Jane's dad) would have to step down from the company and Jasper would take control. I'm not sure why he thought red paint and some bad publicity would do that... doesnt seem like enough to make the board force him to step down to me. Anyway. Jane gave her the gun. They swapped purses. All Grace was meant to do was throw a wad of money at him to land in his lap. The money hid the paint bomb. Ince in Martin's lap, Nick was going to detinate a paint bomb. Nick never intended for Martin to die and didn't give Grace the gun.

The granddaughter looks to be a product of incest. Don’t know why the father was shot by the woman as per his daughter’s instruction though instead of killed in his chair by Nick, as either way he would have been dead so what did it matter which way he died? If she loved Nick she wouldn’t want him to be responsible for it, so she would interfere and do it herself, but she did want to frame Nick for it. So she didn’t love him. She was trying to take control away from Jasper and Nick then by messing up their plan, but why she would want to be responsible for the death when they had already planned on it still doesn’t make sense. Although, she was trying to keep Jasper in line (tape) so that the company would still operate rather than let him commit a crime that sends him to jail. So I gather she didn’t think Nick would succeed at killing him, that Jasper wouldn’t stay in line without her interference, and Nick would never leave her alone and she had to make sure her father was killed in order to save her baby/her father’s baby that her father was trying to kill. Do you think the writer gave her enough to do? LOL
