Piedmont, Wyoming by Drone (Home of Calamity Jane)

Piedmont was once a thriving railroad town in southwestern Wyoming. Founded in 1867, it was the childhood home to Calamity Jane and hangout for Butch Cassidy. The area is open to visit, but it is privately owned.

very cool footage. The Byrne family are my ancestors. We have spent a lot of time in Piedmont and I had never heard of calamity Jane being there. Had to do some research. Side note, look at the origanal golden spike driving. It was delayed by 3 days in Piedmont.

Yes, there is some amazing history there. That’s so cool you’ve been able to trace your family history back to those original settlers. I have read that story about the Golden Spike and how they held up the train so they could get paid.

Can you imagine that place in the winter? The wind blows constantly! I read the last guy who lived there was a rancher who froze to death in the 1940s.

Be bloody good to have the cash to do small chopper runs work pockets of ground massive area just some roads here have done 100 to 200 km drive pull up at creeks ect wing it did all right so chopper that would be a experience.

That would be fun. It's a beautiful area, especially as you get up into the mountains.

Plenty of mountain lions and snakes, plus a few scorpions in the lowlands. My biggest fear is ticks though! @@brettellis1837

Holy shit that sting hits home. Few blokes I know over in WESTERN AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 DID RAILWAY LINE ON CHINESE CAMPS THEY DID OK FOUND A FEW 300 YEAR OLD COIN'S BACK IN THE 1800 S. PEOPLE OR TOWNS MADE THEM LIVE OUT OF THE TOWNSHIPS LIKE 30KM THEY HAD TO GROW OWN FOOD HAD THEIR OWN LAWS MONEY ECT. WILD TIMES BUT THEY GOT THE JOB DONE AND LEFT ALOT BEHIND IN THE GROUND.
