Honestly, I like Cannonbolt more than Shock Rock and that's due to how more unique Cannonbolt is compared to Shock Rock. I find Cannonbolt's design to be pretty unique but his abilities are something that I find to be even more unique and useful in the Original Series. An alien with an almost indestructible shell that can roll up into a ball and ram things with it at high speed and strength is neat and useful to have. Shock Rock on the other hand is just another electric-based alien. I don't find his design to be unique and good. It felt bland to me; especially considering his humanoid shape. Again, like I said, Shock Rock is just another electric-based alien. He's the 8th electric-based alien introduced into the Ben 10 franchise and is likely in the 10s or 20s if I were to count all of the energy-based aliens that the franchise has. It makes him very unnecessary to make and have. I say that it would've been much better to just simply bring back either Buzzshock or Feedback instead...and keep Upgrade around instead of removing him like what season 2 of the Ben 10 reboot did.

I mean alot of aliens just kinda feel like double ups or kinda just bland, shoot we were running into this very issue basically as soon as Alien force existed, between 3 series its sorta tricky to introduce new aliens with new dynamics. Even the weird omni enhanced stuff he has just feels like a retread of Ultimate Aliens, just without unique and relevant design changes for individual aliens and instead just having it be 'just throw glowy rocks on it'.

+njrk97 Agree. I find that Ben's roster of aliens got way out of hand after Alien Force premiered. Just because there are over one million different aliens in the Omnitrix doesn't mean that Ben has to transform into and use every single one of them. A while back I made an article where I give my thoughts on what I find would be the best alien roster for Ben to have. One that is unique and dynamic, useful, and well-balanced. Granted that was one thing, people criticised Alien force for alien overlap but logically, it kinda makes sense that several different species of alien share a similar power and the new roster did a fairly good job at that, having aliens with similar powers but shares of new dynamics. The issue is alot of later series stuff like Ultimate Alien and Omniverse came around it sorta felt like nothing new was added to the aliens ontop of the similar power. IE the fact that Fasttrack is literally just another fast alien, that has nothing new to it in comparison to XLR8, in comparison something like Jetray shares the same niche, but adds the lasers and the fact its speed is flight based. Big chill combines Ice and Ghost freaks dynamics, plus the fact that Articguana was not super frequently seen of used before that point. Shoot even stuff like Chromostone, who had clear parallels to Diamondhead at least added the energy dynamic to it. I honestly suspect that was exactly why Ultimate Alien added the evolution gimmick in the first place, because instead of making new aliens it allowed them to revisit their existing roster...honestly its why im kinda sad that we kinda didn't get that many ultimate evolutions, shoot of ben's original roster we only got, what was it like 2 of his OG aliens as ultimates (Wildmutt,Canonbolt,Waybig? technically).

Sure, it does kinda make sense that there would be several different species that have similar abilities from each other. The real world is an example of that with all of the various species that inhabits it. The problem however comes in when there are aliens that were being added to Ben's roster that are either useless and redundant to have (such as Fasttrack) and/or are so incredibly unbalanced and overpowering (such as Echo Echo. And sure, Alien Force's line up of Ben's aliens can share new dynamics but I would argue that it would work when it's just those very aliens by themselves. Once you reintroduce the OS aliens and introduce new aliens, then we start having problems. Either way, yes, Ben's roster has very much becomes so bloated and unbalanced by the time Omniverse ended. So many aliens have been introduced to Ben's roster that really are so redundant and useless to have. So many aliens have been introduced to Ben's roster that really are so unbalanced and overpowering. For example, Echo Echo, who does not have Ditto's weakness thus allowing Ben to just duplicate as many Echo Echoes as he wants with no consequence to it and because of that and Echo Echo's sonic shout, Ditto and Benwolf are completely useless and I would even argue that Echo Echo is one of Ben's most powerful aliens. He can duplicate as many times as he wants without consequence and that plus his sonic shout can allow for Ben to easily overwhelm his enemies. I would also argue that Swampfire renders Heatblast and Wildvine as pretty much useless (or at the very least reduced their usefulness significantly) because Swampfire is literally just Heatblast and Wildvine mixed together and that can make Swampfire an arguably unbalanced and overpowering alien. Arguably, that is. In regards to Rath, I find him to be one of Ben's most useless aliens because Ben has so many other aliens that easily beats out Rath. Pretty much the only thing that's good about Rath is that he's a funny alien and that's pretty much it. There's also Humungousaur, a strength-type alien. Ben also has Four Arms, another strength-type alien that I would argue is better and more useful than Humungousaur because not only is Four Arms incredibly strong but he's also more agile than Humungousaur...and obviously has four arms compared to Humungousaur having two arms. I find Humungousaur to be a useless and redundant alien because of Four Arms. For more examples, I'll just say that you should look at my article that I linked on my previous account and you should check out the link in my article that takes you to and older version of that same article that has more for you to read. Again, I do agree that it does kinda make sense that there are different species with similar abilities to each other. Having variety is important but it's also important not to have too much variety because that can cause things to get bloated and chaotic. Plus, while it is reasonable for Ben to get more powerful as he unlocks new aliens, if he gets too powerful due to some of the aliens that he has (I'm especially pointing fingers at Alien X), you lose the challenge and tension of his battles because it would just end up being too easy for Ben to defeat his opponents (especially his stronger opponents), thus making his victories feel unsatisfying, bland, and boring. Ben needs to stay properly balanced and adding aliens that either are redundant and/or overpowering breaks that balance. Ben can continue to unlock more and more aliens but like I said in my previous comment, that doesn't mean that he has to use them. To me at least, the roster that I made in my article allows for Ben to be powerful without being too powerful. It's more balanced and there's already enough variety in there. My choice for Ben's roster of aliens already has enough dynamics in it. I find that my roster helps make each of Ben's aliens feel unique, interesting, and useful in their own way with as little overshadowing of each other as possible.

I really like shock rock too, probably my fave new alien in the reboot Also..... unpopular opinion but I really like the reboot and honestly reboot Gwen > OS Gwen

Transformers Prime is really really good and completely self contained so you don’t need to know anything prior to viewing. It’s also (arguably) the best Transformers series, mostly because the creators have a lot of respect for their viewers and it feels more mature than most Transformers media (aside from the comics). Would for sure recommend that Kuro continues it or just for anyone to watch it, though I recognize it’s likely he did since this video came out like a year ago lmao.

I'm a big Transformers geek so it's amusing to hear talk about it from people who aren't really familiar with it - yes, Weird Al has a role in Transformers Animated! He voices Wreck-Gar. This is a callback to the 1986 movie, where the character Wreck-Gar originated from - voiced by Eric Idle in that, but his big sequence in the movie is accompanied by Weird Al's Dare to be Stupid. It's pretty great! And I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend Transformers Prime!!! IMO, it's by far the most solid and engaging and fleshed out. The cut sequence from the first Pokemon movie is actually in some DVD releases now, I'm pretty certain. It definitely adds a lot more punch to an otherwise pretty mixed movie, I recommend looking for it.

Mira Mackiewicz I agree to an extent. Even today you still have the G1 fans that take one look at Optimus and Sentinel's chins and think that the whole show is trash. It's a similar hang-up that Ben 10: Omniverse has where even when the show is fine the art style will always be brought up as an argument against it. Of course, TF: Animated is a much better show than Omniverse, generally speaking, but my point still remains.

Volcano hot take: Having not seen a whole lot of Omniverse from the Incursion arc and onward, I liked what I saw of Omniverse more than I liked Ultimate Alien and the third season of Alien Force. Oh, and while the reboot isn't really a good show, it's easily the best of the three most infamous Cartoon Network reboots and the least offensive, even if the reboot did my main man Max dirty.

I'm a Transformers fan and watched the intro. Was not triggered, only a little disappointed in how little they understand about the franchise. That's fine though, we'll give them time before it shows up on the podcast at some point in the future.

I respectfully disagree. Adding more aliens only serves to deepen the show's sense of progression, and brings a bit more to the table in terms of variety. And honestly, the easy assumption that the show'd just stick with 10 aliens the whole way through is precisely what made Cannonbolt's reveal such a pleasant surprise at the time.

Thing with the reboot, it apparently agreed with you. Ben lost one of his aliens at the end of season 1 and only has 10 aliens now.
