Heck yeah! A fishing day like that is always inspiring! Rock on!

I work in one of the offices right next to this pier. Drive past it every week, but I never see anyone out there! Looks like a great spot to fish at. I'll have to look into getting a membership at the club.

Great video! I wanna rig up a baitfish while I try out my swim baits. What hook line setup do you recommend? I’ve got a sabinki rig to catch the bait. Thanks!!!
@sf_angler Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! It's best to suspend your bait a foot or two off the bottom. A three way swivel or high-low rig works great, I like 20 lb mono for the leader and a size 1 hook.

Just curious, you guys keep talking about 50 pound test line? For halibut you’ll only need like 20 to 30 pound right? Am I fishing with the wrong stuff?

@sf_angler, what brand(s) of jig heads do you use? I feel like the ones I'm finding in those weights have hook sizes too big for the smaller Madame Lure swimbait.

How’s it going! Myself and my girlfriend are frequent fisherman here in Colorado. We’re going to the bay in October, what’s the chance I can catch anything of any of the piers with this swim bait set up if I bring my salt reel?
@sf_angler2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Halibut bite will probably have slowed down by then but October is usually peak striper season
@gisellecruz30882 жыл бұрын
@@sf_angler thank you so much for the reply! Love the channel! What’s your opinion then on what swim baits I should use to target striper when I go out?
@sf_angler2 жыл бұрын
I use the same ones by Madame Lure as for halibut. Anything around 3-4" is good, white is probably the most popular color

Please Consider using the net to return the halibut instead of a massive high impact damage throw , I think it makes sense don’t you ? I loved the video and the fact that it was all swim baits.

Yeah that would have been best in hindsight, same with flipping them over the rail

Great fishing. Easy on the fish. No need to slam the shakers on the deck.

Is it foolish to fish off the pier if you don't have access to a crab basket to bring the fish up? The alternative is to bring it up by reeling it in. Too rough on the fish?
@sf_angler2 жыл бұрын
You should be ok if you go to a popular pier, people are usually happy to help with a net
@paoslee2 жыл бұрын
are you dragging or swimming the bait on the bottom or bouncing it?
@sf_angler2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I use the reel to bring the lure a few feet off the bottom, let it sink back down, and repeat all the way back to the pier.

Relax, he knows, it was over 23” and closing the mouth would maybe show 22.75 -23”? The idea was, is it a keeper? It was easily. If it measured exactly 22” that way then you get precise and close the mouth to make absolutely sure.
