Agree 110%! Lots of warnings are given about being on time. Toilet and hand washing, I once almost got in a fight with an idiot I commented to after he walked out of a public washroom without washing his hands. He didn’t like me “not minding my own business” about it and wanted to go outside to settle it! I told him go ahead! Hit me right here now right in the store in front of the camera. He walked away all ticked off.

When I leave the cruise ship, if we at port for 6 hours, I will put a four hour timer on my phone, which will indicate it is time to start heading back to the ship, that way I don't have to worry about any difference in time between ship and land - 4 hours is 4 hours no matter what. Never been late or close to it.

As my grandmother used to tell us "some people don't believe fat meat is greasy". Responsibility and respect for the rules set forth by those in charge are very important. Cruise ships don't operate on your time, you operate on their time. I have seen too many cruisers left behind. I wear two watches, one for "at home time" and the other for "travel time". Works for me.

I Agree with you 100% about passports The cruise lines need to make every person have a valid passport or you can’t sail. IMO you are going to gamble on a passport eventually your going to loose and it will cost you dearly.

I was the last passenger to board a ship in Vanuatu once. Same thing. Our ship sponsored tour ran late. We were about 2 hours late because the tour operator lost track of time and it wasn't until the ship called him that he realised and we were still an hour away on another island. They even pulled the tour boat up right next to the ship and we basically stepped off one and onto the other then they pulled the gangway up.

I was on a ship a month ago and saw a bus load (2 bus loads) of people coming back by at least an hour late. The buses pulled up right next to the ship and they sped through that pier that it was obvious they were on a mission to get them back on the ship as soon as possible.⚓

We stopped in Cozumel but everyone coming back late lucked out. (May 2023) They said we set a record that day over 2700+ got off the boat and some of the Carnival shore excursions were coming in late also the ambulance came to the ship so there were no pier runner that day.

I agree with you. I almost got left once with my 2 friends at ocho rios. It was my second cruise and we didn’t realize there was a difference between ship and port time. We thought we were an hour early when in reality, the ship was getting ready to leave! The gangway wasn’t on anymore and the ppl were yelling our names from the balcony. I’m traumatized and make it close to the port 2 hours b4 now 🤣

Really top notch travel agents say NOT to take your passport into port and to leave it in the cabin safe. They say the Port attendant will get the passport from the cruise line and hold it for you if you miss the ship.

I just got back from Nassau myself! Amazing time! I have Straight Talk when I was on the island my time on my phone updated to 5 hours ahead there was only us on Liberty the Disney wish and one Royal Caribbean ship pulled up later while I was at Junkanoo Beach the Disney ship left first but when I heard the ship's horn I was freaking out and had to stop another tourist to ask her the correct time so I wouldn't be on one of your videos as a Pier Runner!! 😂😂 miss it alrdy!! Always take your passport and some money with you, or your ID and birth certificate if you are on a closed loop. The US embassy can and will help you a lot easier if you have these things with you. Amazon and many other retailers sell nice waterproof folders you can keep everything in, throw it in your beach bag.

I miss read the ticket time on an excursion I had purchased before the cruise and we missed the bus😢but when we got to the place you were supposed to meet the group we were switched to another excursion…it was less expensive( I was refunded the difference)and it was a really great experience I would never had checked out. We got to see flamingos which is what the other one said about but this was so much better in my opinion. Sad I missed the first one but glad the second was recommended and had a new different fun experience. Thanks Carnival!

I was on a cruise earlier this month on the RC Serenade of the Seas. We ended up waiting for two passengers for about an hour. I believe they were a part of a much larger party that informed the customer service that the two were on the way. The taxi they were in drove on the pier right up to the entrance of the ship.

I believe there are some circumstances where a cruise ship will wait for you if they are informed such as if a crime has been committed against you or you have had an accident and needed to get treatment.

Cozumel, maybe every other time I've been on RCCL on the balcony when we were able to see everything, I even have a few videos of the pier runners but they always made it while we all cheered them on but also pissed that they delayed our departure but not that much 😂

On my last carnival cruise we had several people rolling in 30 minutes late at the second port. Third port we waited 50 minutes after all aboard for a couple. I was surprised we didn’t leave them but I guess we had the time to wait. I think some people get away with being a little late once or twice and just think the ship will wait no matter what.

I feel an immense amount of satisfaction watching these inconsiderate, careless people not get their way for once while many other much more considerate cruise goers taunt them. I love that these cruise ships give these people ample warning before leaving them if they still aren't back. Just arrive back at the ship before it leaves if you don't wanna be left stranded. I'm pretty sure there are allowances made at least if the people who are late give notice and if it genuinely isn't their fault.

Whenever I travel, I always keep multiple photocopies in my luggage of my passport, driver's licence, medical card, and any other important documents. Grab one when you leave the ship, and if it gets wet or lost/ stolen, you have more.

This isn’t cruise ship related but one time my brother and myself were on a trip to Mexico and we took a boat with other people to a destination…the captain told everyone to be back on the boat at a specific time or you’ll be left …and sure enough, 2 people were left on the island. We always aim for 1 hr before posted return time also. And always, always take our passports. The ship MAY find your passport and give it to the port contact, but im not betting my life on that. I will not be on foreign soil without my passport.
