I wouldn't expect the Geneva stripes to be refined but I appreciate them decorating the movement. That being said, I prefer budget watches to have a quartz movement because they're accurate, cheaper, relatively hassle free and the potential for slimmer cases.

Superb review. I agree with all your points. It has a lovely sector dial in a very attractive copper/salmon color. The strap pairing is also quite nice. I'd like to see a display case back, as the movement looks attractive. And a slightly refined case. But for the $, this watch appears to represent excellent value.

great watch but take care with customer support. bought mine 3 months ago and it doesnt run anymore as the teeth on the click have completely worn away even though I didn't even daily the watch. Merkur customer support seems to not care at all and now I have a non-functioning paperweight.

Yes, but it is a legal copy. Also known as the Tongji chinese standard movement, this mechanical movement is inspired by the Swiss Enicar 1010 and Japanese Seikosha Seiko 850 (76xx). It is a hand-wound watch movement which has been manufactured in various forms in numerous factories since 1972. Nothing wrong with this movement, it just has to be well lubricated and it works perfectly. Merkur does it well and it has a nice finishing.
