THANKS PIERRICK, YOUR TUTORIALS ARE AWESOME! I have been watching your channel for 5 years now and I would say you are the best CGI Animator and rigging teacher ever.

This is such a clean way to attach objects to characters. You didn't go into it, but I loved how you switched the control to make the head the driver of an IK chain for the arm.
@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN3 ай бұрын
Just add the head as one of the armature constraint target bones.

The graphs illustrating the relationships and constraints between the bones is a god send. A trick I stumbled upon while editing the drivers was to double click the influence to edit the formula from there!
@jollyroger3573 ай бұрын
I spent two years writing my drivers with long if/then statements and never even considered shortening them to just a short boolean expression, so that's an added bonus for me from the video even beyond the equipment switching.

Would you rig different outfits the same way ? Like a scene where a character steps out of a changing cabine with a different outfit on all the time. Ofc you can hide the collections everytime but I feel like there should be an easier way to do it with just a simple controller

Really nice ! I will apply it on my Kibali ! But, I have a little question, When you apply the position of the bone as rest pose, below the option, there is : "apply selected" as rest pose, Is it the same thing as "apply selected only" you choose in the option after ?

You should pair with someone who works with godot and just work on a game. If animations are images with an extra dimension, then games are animations with an extra dimension. Your animations will always play the same way until you reanimate and re-render, but a game character can animate differently every time. You are already basically doing game design, creating logical relations between elements in your scene, the logical next step is to make an interactive NPC . I make bendy bone caricature rigs for blender and I have made a colony simulator game with godot.

omg! I tried to use the child of constraint many times but it s almost ended badly with many bugs! This solution seems a lot more viable, i am eager to test it!

Thank you so much, I've been looking for a decent tutorial on this as working with multiple Hand/Grip contact angles of an object have always confused me and i usually give up.

Happy four or so years of great Blender rigging/animation tutorials! Also btw I encountered an issue one time that I pinpointed to a problem with the armature constraint: every frame, the bone with the armature constr. would lag behind by a frame. Not sure why, I'm sure I had the bone unparented and the constraint's drivers be correct.
@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN3 ай бұрын
It sounds like a circular dependency. Meaning that, in a way, the constrained bone is influencing the constraint target.

Hey Pierrick, love your videos! Now I want to get into character rigging and animation and planning on buying one of your courses. Which one would you recommend? Starting now with Alive or with your latest one AOER2? I'm new to rigging, not so new to blender. Thanks in advance!
@HelroyDelano2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for all of your Tutorials. I never thought I would be able to understand rigging, but since using your courses and KZbin videos, I can wing my own rigs and, for the most part, get my desired effects. I do have a follow-up request for this videos process. What if a character needs to Unsheath a weapon, like a sword, from a hip sheath? Doing it quickly, in a few frames would be a simple solution. But what if it needed to happen slowly. I assume this parenting technique will be used. Then, the hand is animated on a motion path that will keep the blade from clipping through the sheath........ While typing this comment, I thought of this solution, and I think would work. But I will leave the question as is, as you may have a better way. Thanks again. Keep up all the great work!!!!
