Well done Pierrick! The most important principles, clearly explained in a very short video. I'm currently midway through the 'Effective Art of Rigging 2' course, and it's a step above all other Blender courses I've followed. The explanations are clear, audio is easy to understand even at 2x speed. There's a LOT to unpack, I can't believe the price VS the value it offers, it's a steal. I definitely recommend it!

Well, that's a classic dolly zoom. Once you ttried it once, it's pretty easy to achieve and always super effective. Move your camera back or forward, and increse/decrease the focal length at the same time. Try to keep your character at the same size. You need a good composition of the Bground for it to work.

How is the effect of 12 frames achieved?
@thirdeyenz8 ай бұрын
One tip I give animators is to not keep all your transform keys on the same frame once your timing is sorted. It's easy to leave all of your axes on the same frame but then everything is changing at the same time which can look wooden or robotic, especially on the hips. Once timing and posing is done I sculpt the curves in the graph editor to make movement blend and flow better. Your poses and timing might change a bit but overall it will look more believable. A shift in the hips in X doesn't always mean Y and Z need to be changing. Especially when you've got something rotating AND translating on the same key. If it looks stiff move some axes around to loosen it up. Break it up and sculpt your curves, don't be lazy

You used motion paths to polish your arcs. In Maya it is easy to attach a locator to the tip of a weapon then track the tip. How do you attach a empty in Blender to do the same task? I have tried parenting and grouping but the empty does not stay at the tip of the weapon.
@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN8 ай бұрын
You can use a child of constraint. Or you can parent the empty to a vertex in edit mode.

@@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN Hi, I have tried both of your suggestions. Here is more detail. I have a sword that is constrained to a character hand. This works. When I try and use the child constraint I am able to select the empty then the sword with the eye dropper but the empty does not move with the sword. The parent to vertex option. I select the empty and then shift select the sword. Then when I go into edit mode the sword snaps to a different spot away from the hand. I am not able to move the empty to that location while in edit mode. Any thoughts would be helpful.
@steinmov8 ай бұрын
Hello again. I found a way to make the parent to vertex work. I did a series of estimates of where the sword snapped to when in edit mode. I got the empty to where the sword was. Then parented the empty to the sword tip. When I switched back to object mode the empty stayed where I wanted it. It now moves with the sword. Next I hope that an empty will except a motion trail. Thanks for listening.
@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN8 ай бұрын
@@steinmov MAke sure you enable the armature modifier display in edit mode through the modifier pannel. OR, You need to parent the empty to the bone that controls the sword, not the the sword itself.
