In just five days, the video gained an eye-watering 10 million views from around the world and left viewers with more questions than answers. Netflix played this quite cleverly knowing that the vast majority of us never watch all the rolling credits till the end and that the next episode is automatically uploaded. Although it states at the beginning of each episode that Baby Reindeer was a true story, it also states at the end of each episode the following; “This program is based on real events: however certain characters, names, incidents, locations and dialogue have been FICTIONALIZED for dramatic purposes.

Interesting. As you said, the episodes roll one after the after without the end credits being seen. If it does have a disclaimer then Fiona does not have a case although they still are trying to say that only things irrelevant to the story have been fictionalised. Obviously they won’t use real names etc. that’s a given. Completely different to showing someone being given a jail sentence if that never actually occurred. So, YES it is actually a True Story BUT has been dramatised. I fear Fiona will not have any luck sueing Netflix esp as they didn’t actually create the program. But I think that maybe she deserves a percentage of the money made from it at the very least.

She kept interrupting to state the blindingly obvious about her 'approach' as though she was being revelatory. She was way too personal and emotional in what was fundamentally an academic/debate setting. Randomly flattering guests, like a second hand car sales person, as if they needed her special seal of approval for very basic comments - then literally simultaneously putting them down in the same breath. Seminally passive aggressive. Further, she was constantly attempting to make her 'approach' seem industrially philosophical, and 'savvy' - treating us to a gratuitous 'window dressing' commentary regarding her every utterance. All she did was repeat one assertion, about fiction and nuance. She's evidently never been in a Court of Law. 'Nuance' won't cut the rump there. She seems like your classic 'grandiose infantile' with 'guru status syndrome'. She also appears to equate that adding A level Drama facial expressions, dance moves, animation and almost (god forbid) song, to her repeated statement, would somehow make her assertions more relevant? I quite expected her to say... 'I'll now tell ye all- but through the medium of dance' ...and get up and perform a Ballet Rambert-esque interpretation of how clever she thought her basic approach was. It's not RADA, it's a news show. The others were very classy around this complex and emotive dynamic. I wish we could have heard more from them. Refreshing to see Andy away from Pop-corned Planet/Royals and Markle Zzz. He is a great guest and you're right Piers, an erudite entertainment pundit. More please! 👍

Imarn Ayton does not like facts. At the beginning of the Baby Reindeer Netflix series it states that it is a true story, not based on a true story and not inspired by a true story. If it is a true story (like Netflix claims) then everything in the show has to be true other wise it can't be called a true story. I don't understand why Imarn Ayton can't wrap that around her head?
