Dad fished the Pee Dee river system for fifty years and was a legend in that area for his catfishing. He absolutely swore by big old head pieces for big blues. Back then the Pee Dee wasn’t even known for flatheads but it was full of huge blues. There’s nothing wrong with using crappie for bait. The more that are taken out of a system the bigger the remaining crappie populations get. Here in N.C, Jordan Lake is famous for its crappie fishing. It’s so good because thousands of people take thousands of pounds of them out of the lake every year. As long as the lake’s shad population is good you simply cannot overfish crappie if you follow fish & game limits.

Awesome catch yet again! Hey when you are dragging creek/main channel ledges are you targeting the top the ledge or the deepest breakline? And does that apply to your location on a point as well?
@KayakCatfish5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Britton! When dragging, I usually hit both. Most of my fish come from the deepest breakline so that is where I spend the bulk of my time. When working a point, I like to try to hit the end of it from different angles. Sometimes they will only hit a bait moving in one direction for some reason.

@@KayakCatfish I'm sure you have covered this at some point. Pedal drive vs. traditional paddle kayak. Pros and cons on both in a simple answer? I see a pedal drive being more efficient with not having a paddle in the way while trying to land a fish.
@KayakCatfish5 жыл бұрын
Paddle kayak Pros: Less expensive, simple operation, no maintenance and no drive that can break down. Cons: Slow, limited range, terrible in the wind. Pedal kayak Pros: faster, expanded range, better in the wind, allows you to fish on days you couldn’t go with a paddle kayak Cons: more expensive, moving parts which can break down, usually heavier than a paddle kayak
@Steveinkansas275 жыл бұрын
