I recently completed this fantastic online course (yes, I went through all episodes over one week during my holiday), and it exceeded expectations. The course was exceptionally well-developed, with each lesson carefully structured to build upon the previous one. The pace was perfect-neither too fast nor too slow-allowing me to absorb the intricate details of this powerful VST without feeling overwhelmed. One of the standout aspects of the course was how it demystified the complexities of Pigments, making it approachable even for those, like me, who are initially intimidated by its vast array of features. By the course's end, I became remarkably familiar with Pigments. This course also made me appreciate how user-friendly Pigments 5 is compared to other VSTs, especially the modulation with dragging and dropping connections. After this course, I also feel more comfortable using hardware like the Waldorf Iridium, which requires more menu diving. So, thank you to Jon Audio for investing an incredible amount of time designing and recording this course. I hope Arturia is paying attention to your talent, which is at par with or exceeds that of Venus Theory.

Thank you for your Pigments content. Forgive me for the noob Q: One thing I don't seem to have much variety of in preset form is "plucks". I never found where I can source them. I suppose I'm thinking of melodic percussive plucks, organ plucks, tropical sounding ones. Like kygo, charlie puth use, or that you hear in many pop songs in the charts. Might you consider a future video showing how you can make your own variety of different plucks using Pigments? Either way, ty for all the Pigments content. Loads to get on with really! 👍
@jonaudio9 ай бұрын
You're very welcome! And yeah that would be some fun patchrs to make. A great starting point for plucks is using a square wave and adjust the pulse width to taste, or even modulate it a bit. Drop the cutoff pretty low with a low pass filter and use a fast envelope to modulate it. From there, you can experiment with different wave forms, expand to wavetables and so on.

Its an amazing plugin with great quality. I dont know but it seems to me vital does everything just better. The sequencer in vital is also very easy and fast to use, but its just more acurate, with the curves and everything, but not just that its also faster to use. In vital i bet i get much better results in less time. Arturia is amazing and im just starting to learn it and the quality is so good, but some things are a little bit "slow" or just not as handy as they could be like in vital or serum. Vital is still my fav if all by far. But its nice to see some new features i never thought about like the lock sequence is pretty cool. 😄 and the quality is so diffrent. It really has something special. The fm is really smooth aswell. Defenity a unique synth.

Hey Jon what are your thoughts on pigment 5 and vps avenger 2 are the sequencer the same which is better
@jonaudio11 ай бұрын
Great question! While I like both sequencers, the sequencer in avenger has a few more features than the pigments sequencer. Both are very capable in cranking out rockin sequences though. With the new pigments update, the sequencer is much better than it was. We now can load and save sequencer presets, lock the sequence, drop down scale presets. I use both synths pretty often, they both are top notch 🤙🤙
@johnsuggs782811 ай бұрын
@@jonaudio For the cost, the Avenger just isn't the best option. Of course it's a matter of personal preference. That 250 for the base program and then the expansions are 30-75 each, not worth it. Bundles. Think Bundles. Always try and get as much for your investment that works for you

I'm wondering whether to get the preset pack. It's a clever way to do an upgrade fee: people who buy 5 get the presets, those who don't want to buy the presets get the update for free, but for a little more at intro time, you get the upgrade and the presets. I do wish Arturia would support Linux. You can get a fare more lean and mean system without all the bloat that comes with Windows. (I'm forced to use it while my machine's Windows SSD gets a warranty replacement, though actually I do love how uncluttered and configurable it is -- for now I have U-He and Tracktion synths to play with.)
