I remember when women were putting rosemary oil on their hairbrushes for the nightly brush out, back in the early and mid '70s. They were not doing it for any growth effects but the oil is so fine and light that it penetrates the hair shafts and makes it look shinier, glossy, and that in turn makes it look thicker. The outer part of the hair shaft is the cortex and is actually colorless, very fine oils can absorb into that colorless husk to make it more glasslike transparent so the color underneath comes though better. This is why men who use greasy products in their hair appear to have darker thicker hair. The thicker the product the thicker hair appears because the shafts are getting stuck together. But, that also means more spaces left open between the hairs so eventually it looks worse than if you just leave it alone. Something happened to me at 16 in the heart of puberty (German measles) that seems to have arrested that cycle, slowed it way down, so my hair never really got that masculine thickness to the hair shafts, but overall hair count per square inch stayed high, so I have abundant fine hair even late into life. Thinning on the crown though. And turning silver back and sides.

As I'm coming into being 30 years old I'm starting to to notice some thinner spots. I've been using rosemary essential oil with a combination of other rosemary products on my hair for one or two months now, and not that consistently, and I've noticed my hair becoming healthier, stronger, and way less prone to hair loss. But that's about it. I think the thin parts are slightly better, but not significantly. I hope it can reverse them. It's definitely a habit to hold onto.

@krasimirgedzhov89428 ай бұрын
@@kam2992 Well it's nothing fancy, really. I got this tea made of fresh rosemary, into which I add some drops of rosemary essential oil and put in a spray bottle in the fridge. I spray that onto the areas I want results in each night. The "potion" lasts for one or two months, I think. The other two products are some general store oils for hair like castor oil, rosemary oil etc which i use only once a week and rub well into my scalp and sit on it for 1 or two hours before shower. Then I shower with some very light shampoo that's mainly just some kind of general soap + rosemary oils again. And that's it, basically. The shampoo is really good, even tho it's so simple. My hair and scalp has never felt calmer, cleaner and so good in general. I've stopped it for a single month and gone back to my former shampoo, which wasn't bad to be honest, and now my scalp feels tired, dry and itchy. But that's just me. Best case scenario is to go to a trichologist and let him make a personalized plan for you, but that costs money. So far I don't have such money so I've been experimenting with these things, and they seem to kind of work. The only thing I don't like is that my hair hasn't become way thicker, but that's probably unrealistic. If it just stops the balding process that'd be tremendous.

@@Duman_59 Exactly. Having dense follicles can actually be paradoxically misleading. Because you are starting with so much density, you can ignore the problem for longer, delude yourself into thinking you are "immune" and won't catch it until it's already very progressed. Even if you have a lot of follicles they can be DHT sensitive (no matter how big the bucket is, if it has a hole, it will eventually be empty) and so even your dense hair can and will eventually thin and then fall out if you are prone to that. Versus if you started with less follicles you would notice much sooner when they thin and you maybe lost a few and could do something about it.

I don't know if you ever consulted a professional but in my opinion you don't have any hairloss at all, many 16-year-olds would be jealous of your hairline :D For the rosemary: I have used Minoxidil, never liked it, scalp and hair felt terrible, had even some heart problems plus I never saw any changes. Now I use rosemary oil in my shampoo. I have relatively thin hair and since I use it, my hair feels and looks thicker, has more strength and volume. With the naked eye I don't see any new hair but I've only been doing it since December and since it almost cost nothing as has no sideffects whatsoever I will just continue using it. I use a ph neutral perfume free shampoo and add about 20 drops of oil. I wash my hair every day and let the shampoo sit for a few minutes. And: maybe it doesn't grow new hair but maybe it prevents future hair loss, that alone for that price (I paid $17 for a whole bottle of concentrated oil) and without sideeffects (AND it's no effort to apply), I will just use this forever as my shampoo

I saw a video by some 'hair expert drs' who mentioned Rosemary oil. They don't think it really does anything. They said the study comparing it to minoxidil isn't that great and that the likely benefits simply came because of mechanical stimulation of the scalp. One Dr said he'd bet money that he could get hair stimulation with just a tooth brush, massaging toothpaste into the scalp that would produce the same results as rosemary oil.
@Poseidone1018 ай бұрын
Rosemary oil (from personal and people I know) say it’s a person-to-person bases as well as age and genetics which play apart in its effectiveness. Minoxidil is naturally a better option but it can have its side effects. Rosemary oil + a derma-roller or derma-pen/stamp is a better option to start with. In my opinion
@Bobby-mq9ys8 ай бұрын
@@Poseidone101 Yeah I'd like to see a study where it's just mechanical action (e.g. derma roller) vs derma roller and Rosemary oil, because I suspect the results would be the same. The Dr's also mentioned a UK farmer who grew hair back on parts of his bald head where a calf had been licking him when he feeds it. The farmer thought there was something magical about cows saliva that might cause hair to grow...but in reality it turned out just to be the mechanical stimulation of the cow licking him which caused the hair follicles to wake up. I think a this is the case with rubbing a lot of these so called 'natural' oils into the scalp tbh.

Rosemary oil was ONLY effective of the crown of your head. I don't know the science behind it, but this was my takeaway from my reading of those studies. I think people are conflating the study on the success of this oil on some male patterned baldness, with all male patterned baldness. I've also seen some expand this to all hair regrowth too. This might be the case but again, not my interpretation of these big significant studies that have been making the rounds. Also the new growth from chemical or natural hair treatment should look like a batch of fresh hair sprouts. The application of the androgen blocker will syncronise a wave of inactive hair follicles which results in a fairly synchronous "sprouting" of previously dormant hair. It takes 6 months for an inactive follicle to pop through. Disclaimer: I am no expert! The above info is my VERY amateur interpretation and regurgitation of my shallow dive into natural hair growth treatments. I am currently 5 months into using 4% rosemary in an olive oil carrier on my crown.

And either way growth stimulants like rosemary oil and minoxidil aren't a strong long term solution to hair-loss as after a while there affects plateau and you start loosing ground agian. 5 alpha reductase inhibitors, like Finasteride, are the most efficacious way to go if your facing hair loss. In his case he's at the age of 30 and his hair loss is is almost nothing, he could probably prevent any more hair loss by taking finasteride every other day, using topical finasteride, or using a topical anti-androgen like fluridil.

Hi , you’re so young! Please let me know it is work for old people, over 75? Thank you😊

Looks to me like it's working! Biotin and zinc will also help, taken internally. These nutrients are both DHT (dihydrotestosterone) blockers, and DHT is a factor in hair loss. Minoxidil is also a DHT blocker.

I don’t recommend zinc, as it’s too drying.
@EFTTappingwithHeatherAmbler8 ай бұрын
@@sunshine3914 It's not drying when taken internally, as I recommended.

Minoxidil is not a DHT blocker. It’s believed to stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow to the follicles. The actual mechanism isn’t quite known. But it does nothing for DHT. Finasteride is what blocks DHT.

Rosemary oil and minoxidil DO NOT BLOCK DHT, they increase the anagen phase of the hair follicle, they also increase bloodflow and are pottasium channel openers which might also help your hair grow. They work INDEPENDENTLY FROM DHT that's why they increase hair growth in places which aren't effected by DHT.

You should pull your hair back in the before and after photos that way it is easier to see the hairline.

Drives me insane when I see people with perfectly crisp hairlines taking their hair for granted thinking they are thinning out smh 🤦🏻♂️

Lucas, do you wash your hair daily?
@honesty24768 ай бұрын
I think it looks the same? but I know the rosemary oil works for hair growth. I believe you are basically washing it out which explains why it’s not stimulating the scalp. I recommend you massage your entire scalp with the rosemary cream you made then sleep overnight with it then wash out. just do it every night because hair growth is more overnight as we sleep

i personally think it did almost nothing if anything at all. it just looks like your hair is thicker because its grown out.

Except the rosemary, what kind of cream do you use ??

Very hard to tell since the after picture is sooooo much sharper than the before one, wich makes this difficult to compare.

Rosemary oil and Blackseed oil together would be a pretty interesting test aswell. These vids are so cool to watch!

it's so hard to tell. I almost thought the after showed slight receding (saw more skin). but the after does seem slightly thicker unless it's b/c hair is longer. Cool personal study!

the part where you want to grow hair aint a spot where it schould be. Some people just have that curve in there naturally

I don’t know if you are doing derma pins but usually people do it to properly inject the rosemary deeper

Bro you need to use a microneedling device with it to increase the effectiveness by like 400% .... use a stamp or a pen, or a roller with single needles instead of discs.
