I neglected the Big Ol' Scary River for far too long this year.. I'm not sure why I capitalized that like its an actual title, but every part of that description is true. Deep water, fast current, undertows, and fish that exceed 100 pounds. I ventured out, and the butt crack of after dawn, to give bank fishing the Big Ol' Scary River another shot from the bank. PAAA POWWW!!!

I'm down in Oklahoma taking care of my mom and fishing my old stomping grounds, big rivers and such, and I wanted to tell you that your videos have widened my horizons as far what a good fishing spot is, and what you can catch them on. After 60 years of fishing, that's saying something. And that's what makes it fun, fishing is like puzzle you're always trying to solve. You never reach a point where you've figured it all out and there's nothing left to learn. Nice vid as always, thanks and take care.

Hello from Bethel Acres, Oklahoma! I actually own a piece of the North Canadian river here (it is the east border of my property) and I have never fished it. I have fished Oklahoma for 50 years, but I was always a Lake fisherman, that's all my dad taught me, LOL! I spent a lot of time at Eufaula, because it's huge and you can catch anything you want there, and we had a boat! We had a huge family and we all fish, we had to to keep our freezer full. My mother's favorite fish to eat was crappie, (mine too, lucky for me lol) so my father obliged and he and the children would endlessly chase the crappie for her☺️ You make me want to grab a pole and walk out to my river and drown a minnow😁 I'm a grandma now and the sad thing is that I have never even owned a catfish Pole my life! I only have crappie Jigs and and tiny little weights and slip floats and such! I don't even have a weight in my tackle box that would stand up to the current although it's fairly slow where I'm at. I love your videos and I don't even know why I haven't went to the store yet!

Float fish. Float fish. Float fish. That spot would be nuts for floating. Get some juicy bobber downs drifting that current

You might be on to something. I just usually do better float fishing in shallow water.. It's super deep, in both spots. Any tips?

Slip float. You can run as deep as you want under it with a bobber stopper on the mainline to set the depth.

That’s almost all I use anymore with some live bait or gulp minnows. Great to get into deep cover for crappie.

@@gavinwilson8649 Yea I know what a slip float is, but I've just never had success with it in deeper water. Usually only when it's bouncing off bottom. Maybe no bobber stop? It'll adjust itself along the way?

We get bait in certain spots & fish for Flatheads in different spots in Michigan. I keep on trying to find a spot in the river. I was fishing a marina & all I managed to catch was a sunfish & a nice Rock bass, while catching several channel catfish. Rock bass got his ass kicked by Flatheads, including getting eyes on a 10 to 15 Lb Flathead, before it popped off. Still was on the hook at the end of the night. Sunfish was still alive at the end of the night. Green Sunfish my buddy brought got slammed & the fish got away with it!

You need to put a couple of ned rigs in your bag and throw them on in situations like that. Everything hits a ned, and I have caught tilapia, northern and even a snapping turtle on one. It is far and away the best smallie lure out there though and if you don't have to worry about weeds it never fails.

Even though the color of river might not make it look like this but that’s a sign of the water becoming better for fish that small mouth populations on the rise . Also means more bait fish more critters for fish to eat in river . Bigger fish will be on the rise. The catfish will have more to eat they will be growing bigger .

In Alberta I'm only allowed to use one rod 😢 2 tip ups for ice fishing or 1 rod and 1 tip up. Cannot have 2 trebles on tip up. Fly fishing allows 3 single hooks on line. No live bait allowed unless its an insect of sorts. I wish I could use two rods. One set for bait and cast with the other. You sir are a lucky man...unless all your rods get hit at once. Then it becomes a cluster faq
