Yeah, a Spider-Man with a spider-bite was long overdue. I like Doppelganger for a lot of the same aesthetic... and I certainly noticed him in the sky during _No Way Home,_ though I guess a lot of people thought that was Superior Spider-Man (even though four waldo-arms are something that the Disney/Marvel Spider-Man already has). The pose was classic Doppelganger, in any case, with the extra arms wildly splayed.

@@MegaZeta Also the entire point of Superior Spider-Man is that he's not a villain. He was created as a result of a villain doing villain things and has all the memories of that villain, but he also has all of the memories of Peter Parker. Calling the Superior Spider-Man "just" Doc Ock in Peter's body is missing the whole "he had the exact same "with great power" realization as Peter _over killing Peter_ because he DLCed all of Peter's memories". Superior Spider-Man is as much as a villain as Eddie Brock after he got over wanting to kill Spider-Man. He killed Peter Parker, realized he was the bad guy all along, and swore to outdo Peter not just out of ego but out of a belief he both can and SHOULD because with great power comes great responsibility. He's a former villain trying to atone, not a villain. He's no more evil than Venom or Tony Stark. Given that Otto canonically has brain damage from the fusing of the tentacles in the comics, it could be posited that once his mind was put into a functioning brain, while he had all the memories and self-canon of his brain-damage and had to reason with it, he was back to the good man he was before. He was sorta a Phineas Gage situation before, and cured himself via evil only to then realize what he did.

If I remember correctly, the reason Spidey and other mutated characters aren’t considered Mutants is that the Marvel Universe has two different types of Mutants. Mutants are people born with their powers out of nowhere due to their genes, while Spider-Man and other characters who got their powers by being exposed to something are considered Mutates. So basically: Mutant = born with powers from mutation Mutate = received power after birth from altered genetics At least that’s my best understanding. There’s probably plenty of exceptions in the Marvel Universes

@@kobraunit _Plenty_ of X-Men have been non-mutants. The first to join the X-Men after the original roster, in fact, was a human with chemically-granted powers, Mimic. That was all of 3 years after the first X-Men story was printed. Since then, X-Men have included Lockheed and Hepzibah (both extraterrestrials), Longshot (a genetically-engineered being from Mojoworld), etc. So not just Spider-Man.

Okay hear me out the retcon bombs are most terrifying weapon in all of Spider-Man history. Imagine if those were used in real life. Just chilling walking down then somebody throws miniature bomb that's on fire at you. That's already an extremely bad situation. Then once it hits you a major portion of your past is completely changed disregarding your pre-established history. Nightmare fuel.

They're also the most exciting idea in Spider-Man history. There's something that was established long enough ago that it's considered "established canon" that can be brought in via the Spiderverse stuff in order to perform canon surgery in-story. Given that they keep writing even more absurdly terrible retcons (for example, the "children" of Norman and Gwen are clones now!) to fix previously established absolutely terrible retcons (for example, Norman and Gwen having kids was a retcon a decade and change before they were clones and 30 years after she died), it sure would be useful for someone to go ham on Spider-Man's life with retcon bombs to remove some terrible ideas. Heck, you could do a highly-demanded "unintended consequences" story if somehow one hits the sniper that shot Aunt May in One More Day and caused it all. Or get _weird_ with it at the same time and have one hit Aunt May, which still would have the same effect but make it so he was raised by just Ben until Ben died and he was double-orphaned. Then have that sit until he discovers the piece of his world missing, and you have _another_ story there.

If my memory is correct Mutants have the X-gene as the source of their abilities. So there can be characters who go through mutations like Spidey, but would not be considered a capital "M" due to not having the X-gene be the origins of his mutation.

TBF the X-Men haven't been all-mutant since the 19th issue of their original comic book, cover-dated 1966, only 3 years after their first story ever. Mimic was a human with chemically-granted abilities that allowed him to copy the mutant gifts of the X-Men. Mimic was in fact the first to join the team after the original five X-Men (and Professor X). Since then, a number of non-mutants have been X-Men, from extraterrestrials to artificial genetic experiments.

Those Mexican Spider-Man comics unfortunately never did anything super crazy because they were still reprinting the regular Spider-Man comics in Mexico and they didn't want to contradict them.

The Obama/Miles thing is definitely a clout fishing lie by MARVEL. *The true story is* completely different. The seed for a African American Spider-Man was planted post Raimi trilogy as the movie reboot ideas were brainstormed and one thought was "factors that make Peter Parker's life could reflect a urban youth so maybe Peter Parker should be..", they didn't go for it but Michael Bendis was there since at the time comic people were brought in for superhero movie production before studios went all in on Hollywood writers only for superhero movies. Later down the line Bendis revisited the concept when he caught an episode of Community that begins Donald Glover's character getting out of bed in Spider-Man PJs and thus Miles Morales was on his way. In fact the very scene appears in Into the Spider-Verse as it plays on a background TV when Miles is at his Uncle Arin's apartment.

Spider-Man: Fake Red is actually about Spider-Man (Peter Parker) disappearing and his suit being found by a random kid who starts pretending to be Spider-Man since, according to Silk, "the city needs a Spider-Man". The real Spider-Man ended up being possessed by the symbiote and turned into Venom. Thankfully in the last few chapters he ends up as the real Spider-Man again.

I feel like Venom 3 has be something different, having Toxin be the villain would be predictable. Venomverse or Knull, would be a better idea, and with Venom 2's post credit scene showing the symbiotes share a hive mind across universes, it would be the same knull in every timeline. Hell just bring Topher Grace back for a multiverse film to give that venom a bit more time to shine.

On the other hand… as a lifelong fan of Venom (I have an O.G. copy of _Lethal Protector_ #1 around here somewhere) I read about the “Knull” thing and it convinced me I don’t want to read superhero books anymore, since they seem hopelessly mired in wiki-trivia now. The whole “planet Klyntar” bit of Venom’s story has always been the least interesting part, and the movies have been smart to steer away from that and more toward the dysfunctional relationship.

And we don't know if whatever wants to kill Kid Peter is the same enemy from Madame Web

2:12:13 I'm guessing The Spider was going to be the Ultimate Ben Reilly. Hear me out. They did the Ultimate Clone Saga without Ben. Now, "The Spider" is actually a pretty used name. Most importantly, right before the 90s Clone Saga. That's what Peter starts calling himself when he rejects being Peter Parker after the robot duplicates of his parents are revealed as robot duplicates. Given the "it" situation, Peter being dead, and the general situation around it with "billionaire plot", plus the general fact that having the reveal be "it's this guy you don't care about" is bad writing, it makes sense that The Spider is Ultimate Ben Reilly.

Two notes as I’m watching the video. Miles wasnt Spidey for most of the Ultimate universes’ run. He wasnt introduced until it had already been going for like 10 years, and then was brought into the 616 universe only 4 or 5 years after being created. Also Spidey isnt a mutant at all. Mutants get their power from the X-gene, which they’re all born with. Spidey wasnt born with the X-gene, and only got powers later in life due to the spider bite. He's in the same class as like Captain America or Hulk, characters who gained powers from external means, rather than being born with them.

if by really good you mean its a broken, buggy mess of a game that was rushed you ended up liking as a kid and there for jsut becuase i liked it as a kid even tho its factually flawed mess and jsut ignore the critisums asif they dont matter and you pretend its a geninely good game when in reality its a broken, flawed, buggy mess of a game that seems half finished and rushed that your unable to admit isnt good because your blinded by nostalgia bias then yeah...its really good...but not really...just because you grew up with something or just because you like something doesnt mean its actual qaulity is good and good is judged by quality standards not by how much someone likes something and people when they are old enough to know better should be able to be grown up enough to admit these things without lying to themselves and others...your ok to like bad and flawed things esspecially if it has emotional significance if you want to but its immature to lie about reality and claim its a genueinlly good game and ignore its obvious factual flaws that make the game not good when it isnt and theres plenty of evidence that contradicts that its good and if your unable to see and admit to somethings flaws then i question your qaulitys control and standards if you think releaseing broken bugy rushed mess of a game means really good..theres bad things we all like and thats fine...l like the ghost rider movies despite them being hot garbage because of how entertaining and bat shit crazy it can be sometimes mostly nick cage and the ghost rider deisgna nd effects i like and i find enjoyable but they are still bad and flawed movies and im able to admit that...they are bad mvoies i dont hate or dislikeand i get enjoyment out of but im still able to see and recognise the flaws as an adult i couldnt see as a kid and i dont jsut shut my brain of and turn a blind eye and pretend the flaws that make it bad doesnt exist...i wouldnt claim its a good movie just because i like it and i have nostalgia for it that comes of as disingenuous to the moive/games overall qaulity repersenting it in that way when its proveable a flawed mess...same for you with spider-man 3 the game except you pretend ts actually still really good when it isnt instead of jsut excepting it for what it is...a bad game you happened to love because of nostalgic feelings and thats fine.....but at the end of the day reality is its a bad game you played when you was young that you liked because you unable to see or recognise qaulity due to your age and your unable to admit to yourself as a grown person or others its abad and flawed game you jsut happened to love because you grew up with it and have bias...people really have to come to turms with and admit just because you grew up with something or liked it when you was young doesnt mean its genuinely good qaulity wise and as an older more mature perosn you should be able to admit that..i was jsut like you i was a young kid that played this game as one of my first ps3 games aswell on my 10th or 11th birthday and i liked it becuase i loved spider-man but as i got older im able to admit its kind of crappy and doesnt hold up at all compared to games that came out before and after it..it is werid tho how spider-man 3 the game and movie ended up beign the worst received out of the trilogy..youd think with it being a game they could of made all the rushed elements in the movie work better in a game format because tis longer and ahs more time to flesh things out but then they just forced in more unrelated villain plotlines like rhino an scoprion plotline and the lizard and kraven, the kingpin plotlines none of which had anything to do wiht the main story going on that takes away from the main plot and villains not having enough time or development in the game so it was an even more rushed cluster fuck mess then the movie itself..hell the unibomber pltline didnt need to be there and be so long and time consuming as hes just a villain made up enterly for the game and has no background lore yet gets more screen time and focus then the actual main spider-man villains of the story ,new goblin, sand man and venom and a hole lot of time is wasted on this nothing of a character that shouldnt be here because he doesnt even exist and was made up for the game takeing time away from actual spidey villains that are the main villaisn and yet he gets more screen time with his plotline then they do...im sorry if this seems to long for you or seems like an attack on you its not im just trying to chat with you about the topic of spider-man 3s quality that you brought up and share my thoughts on it

I think the whole "True bred" thing with Mayday is that her powers are not a mutation for her, that's the genetics she was supposed to get with Spidey as a dad...oddly if she had been born with no powers, she would technically be a mutant...unless all of Pete's genes are recessive and she had them and they just don't function...
