Top quality footage. Interesting to see the different reactions from two fish. One cautious and one who charged in. Just goes to show how wary fish can be, tho’ the first pike looked like it had just eaten!

You should have put a few more lead weights on the line that would ensure the little fish couldn't swim away and he would stay the bait

Like an astronaut firing mini thrust boosters left and right, up and down in orderto stabilize a lunar/planetary landing in 0 gravity air, in water, the master predator Pike sneaks in on it's prey nano-meter by nano-meter with a perfect fin execution/cushion as to no alarm the prey of it's presence. then it goes boooom

Maybe the pike took some time to attack because your twitching action was confusing. Either you twitch to make your bait move or you wait.

Great footage but don't agree with the live bait, fishing with live is banned in ireland.. And so should be everywhere. Great footage thou.. Tight lines.

Live bait.. So brutal.
@kaimadena31233 жыл бұрын
People using live bait should be banned from fishing. This is just cruel!
@danielwood19283 жыл бұрын
It’s legal though. So if anything the issue lies with the laws. But pike eat fish. That’s nature. If anything, being caught would make the pike not feed for a couple of days meaning less fish get eaten long term. Lots of ways of looking at it.
@kaimadena31233 жыл бұрын
@@danielwood1928 There’s lots of things that are legal but still ethically or morally incorrect. Cheating on your wife is legal, too, does it make it ok? It’s not about catching the pike. I‘m a fisherman too and I catch lots of pike with artificial lures or dead baits. It’s about the poor living fish which is stabbed by the hook and still living, trying to survive, trying to swim off under pain and stress. It‘s pure torture for the bait fish - it‘s a creature that wants to live without pain, too. For me, it’s both morally and ethically incorrect. In my country and lots of other countries it‘s illegal to use live bait - and I think it should be illegal everywhere.
@danielwood19283 жыл бұрын
@@kaimadena3123 valid points. But then what’s so different about putting a hook through a maggot or a worm. If you want to get into the ethics of it, what gives them any less right to life than the baitfish.
@kaimadena31233 жыл бұрын
@@danielwood1928 First of all, I‘m only using lures, no living bait. However, it is scientifically proven that insects like worms and maggots do not have a consciousness and are not able to experience torture as such. They do not feel pain and their brains are not able to feel stress. Different situation with fish: They can experience stess. Feeling pain is still not proven.
@danielwood19283 жыл бұрын
@@kaimadena3123 if that’s true about worms not feeling pain then that is interesting. They don’t half wriggle when the hook goes through them though so they must feel something. You’d think the pike when it is caught, taken out of water etc... experiences more stress than the lip hooked baitfish does even. Easy to argue both ways when it comes to the ethics of fishing. I regret starting this exchange. Much more trouble than it’s worth.
@gybx40945 жыл бұрын
Why did you not keep it? They're good to eat even with all the little "Y" bones. I caught and ate many as a kid. I, too, am a predator.
