Is there any way to watch pikes peak live ? or like who should I watch on here ?
@KGB9082 жыл бұрын
Lots more like this. Most of us who watch your channel view it as a halo channel, meaning we’ll never touch the level you operate on, but it makes us dream about it. Going to watch this ridiculous pikes peak 911 rip around willow springs and talking with the team who built it is near unfathomably cool, and for a lot of your viewers this is the closest we’ll ever get to experiencing it. Keep this content coming, and I, for one, will keep watching.

Man, what a hell of an opportunity of an experience! Definitely jealous haha. Being able to sit down with someone who's ran into the same issues you are encountering and being able to access his wealth of knowledge on the matters is definitely priceless. If you're anything like me, you probably took what you learned and dove into an evening of applying it to your own project. Seeing what tweaks can be made, what big changes overall can be done, etc. To me it's one of the most exciting parts of an engineering project! Nothing better than a good problem solving session; well, maybe the actual building portion. Watching plans come to life is always satisfying too!

Pikes Peak is a really tough engineering challenge due to the altitude change and therefore air density change. This has generally been proven by how long it takes teams/individuals to build some kind of proficiency at the event. Joey sounds like he knows what he’s talking about! I would have loved to see more of what’s under the skin of that car but, suspect they didn’t want to give too much away!? I try to never miss an opportunity to learn. Everyday’s a school day and knowledge is king.

I assume you're using audio filters when you process your video footage, but if you aren't, try a 150hz high pass filter to block the traditional ruffly wind noise that makes it past your dead cat/blimp on your mic.

@jamesashe2 жыл бұрын
The efficiency of an engine isn't dictated by the boost pressure. The only thing the boost pressure:power ratio will tell you, is the approximate size of the turbocharger. It's a common misconception because most people think 'boost is boost' but a large turbo at x psi of boost will flow much more air than a small turbo. The amount of air you flow is what makes power.
@stanceworks2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. But if boost is measured in the manifold, air at a given pressure is a given volume, isn’t it?
@randiiburleson2 жыл бұрын
Dammit! Back to the salt mines. Chain yourself to the 308 and do some work, you off-topic slacker! Wait... This sort of field trip is great content to watch, and is near-adjacent to SW projects in general. This is on-topic for why I watch, and interviews with these kind of experts elevate your channel. Feel free to share more pics of that 911 and things that caught your eye as a fabricator. Great episode! You can work on more double-jointed inverted TIG pedal manipulation next week.
@trevmead83872 жыл бұрын
Does it ever strike you that one day you'll have your car out, testing and playing with set ups, and someone will be there, like you were ..asking the same things? And to have that knowledge from your own experience and those that've been shared to help the next person perfect their build?

Pretty sick. It’s not really a GT3 cup at this point tho. Lol. Maybe more similar to a GT2RS “cup” (if they made one) with a ton of downforce (obviously for the thinner air).

The only guy as suitable right now for that job, IMHO Ruben Zeltner. Absolute GT3 specialist, German Rally Champion in a Porsche GT3. Or Kevin Estre, lunatic by trade. And I would look especially for a driver with a Porsche background . Edit: I forgot, they are busy with Nürburgring 24 right now.

@gar244072 жыл бұрын
You should not gloss over the fact the he asked for less torque. The car is like a lever, down force on the back lifts the front (bad mid corner). Don't make the mistake of upsetting the car by putting too much power or downforce on the rear without an a similar force acting on the front. You will probably need a massive front spliter to counter a massive rear wing at high speeds.
@stanceworks2 жыл бұрын
Edit: I replied to the wrong person. You're totally right! I do have a huge splitter to go up front. I'll also be running a good bit less power on track than the 911 is. We'll start small and build up!
