To give a top notch performance, they have the tendency to lipsync, preferring to ace their dance than the vocals, probably because it's much easier to cover up singing mistakes than choreo mistakes live. But maybe in other cases, lipsync would be preferred, say, in an award show or in a huge outdoor concert. Having live vocals in such situations is much more pressurized for the engineers and organizers. So then they would prefer to lipsync
