I absolutely love and adore Johnny. He is a tonic, very entertaining and always honest. Everytime he comes on stage or on TV, he lights it up. All his albums are masterpieces. Love both Pil and Sex Pistols. So sad about his beautiful Nora. My heart goes out to them both. He will always be my handsome hero ❤❤❤

A great man, John Lydon. A very down to earth person, thoughtful, intelligent, with lots of humor too.

Lydon is capable of such startling clarity when not submerged in the "rotten" character. This is one such interview..

I like him because he don’t lie and tells it as it is. He right you can only change if we want too. We seem to live in a world now where money and greed rules all. Sad when you think about it. I know a lot of people hate John Lyndon only because they hate the truth he speaks. That’s the problem in the world people don’t like the truth and hide behind lies all there life.

John is a tonic, a REAL tonic 👍🏽 always admired his guts, honesty and cheekiness. Doesn't bow the head to anyone - except Nora of course ❤️ Johnny - God bless you for making me smile and smashing all them cobwebs out of my mind.. I love to disagree with sooo much of what you say but i greatly admire you for saying things that i CAN disagree with - you have kept a LOT of people awake- and-listening attentively.. we are ALL secret admirers - and (naturally) dead jealous of Nora ❤️ 💖 be yourself always Johnny xx God keep you and Nora together in Paradise - yous have not only taught others what real love is - yous have lived it 🙏🏽 (p.s. don't be hard on the prayerful, we didn't start the fire, it was always burning 🤭 oh oh 🤫 plagiarism...) your fan - Mary

I don’t think I’ve ever encountered this opinion before.. wow. Don’t get me wrong, I like it too, it’s just far beyond where I think he was doing his best work, but to each their own. I’m sure if I had been introduced to their later 80s work before their later 70s work that my preference would probably be different.

@@nikolademitri731 Yeah what happened was during 89 i was getting out of my metal period and started to get into lots of Brit-Pop, New Wave, Goth, Alternative, Shoegaze. I got real heavy into The Cure (Disintegration is my fav album to this day) and went from there. As far as PIL, I just remember seeing the video for "Disappointed" on MTV and loved it. I rushed out and bought "9" and fell in love. Obviously I then went out and got all their older stuff but "9" is what started it all for me and I love every song on it. I just find it to be a masterpiece.

@@nikolademitri731 PS. Not to mention I thought his look during 9 was just awesome. The colors. Hair. Clothes. All of it. 9 is just beyond. Not a single PIL album comes close. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGelp2tubJJ9oq8

@@sexobscura it’s a PIL album, PIL is Lydon and whatever musicians he wants to use. 9 is a great, underrated album, more listenable than First Edition and Metal Box (note I said more listenable, not better). All that said the single Public Image is still their best song.

He has fantastic eyes, he seemed to me like he's got a real presence about him -- he's so animated. Its a pity he didn't try acting, he'd of looked the part in lots of films, westerns or some kind of historic movies.

Lydon's music with PIL was a complete 180 degrees from his Sex Pistols days for sure, though his larger-than-LIFE ego and strong opinions remain the same, even well into the 21st Century.

Love Lydon and love PiL, but around this time the music was too normal. The vocals and lyrics are great, but I wish the music was more bizarre. Albums like Flowers of Romance and This is What You Want... are oddball and great. An interesting progression from the first two albums which are incredible.

Lately I’ve been a bit let down and puzzled by John’s political statements, and reasoning, but it’s nice to look back and see/hear a much wiser chap. I don’t agree with everything here 100%, but it’s at least all intelligent, and sensible, and grounded in reality. There’s a lot to criticize about the modern left, and John’s right to do so, but to pretend like the right wing “populists” have any answers, let alone that they’ll help the working class.... ugh, I just hope he wakes up, and starts thinking more like the guy in this interview again.
