Pilates for Painful shoulders is a 15 minute programme of exercises for rotator cuff injury rehab and strengthening. You can do this session with or without a light resistance band according to how your shoulders feel. These exercises can help you strengthen the rotator cuff as well as rehabilitate an injury. It is a wonderful programme to follow that can benefit anyone looking to improve strength and mobility in their shoulders. You can increase the strength of the resistance as your shoulder pain reduces and your strength increases, just be mindful of not over doing it

Hello Rachel hun! I couldn’t get to this yesterday, a lot of family things coincided yesterday, however did it just now and I have a small issue from doing prior intense workouts so this felt GREAT! Many thanks ❤ off to today’s live, which I try every week to make it live, but I can’t so I’m doing it now much ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I'm glad I found your video series and I am adding your sessions to my weekly Pilates rotations. I am working on repairing my right shoulder right now and was pleased to find this particular video and added it to the routine the physical therapist gave me two weeks ago. I see the similarities in some movements and am glad to have some new ideas to implement as well. You are great at describing what we should be feeling and encouraging movement within personal ranges. Thank you!

Thanks so much Rachel Iv'e had operations on both shoulders in the past so I always need to exercise them on a regular basis Especially at the moment as the left shoulder is feeling stiff again x

oh dear, i was doing some of your pilate exercises which required reaching arms above the head. I guess I should avoid doing that part of the exercise the next time. As for this rotar cuff exercise, i avoided the floor part because of arthritis in back, so for now at least i will stick to the standing up part. I am not getting treatment at the moment. But i did years ago, I have this problem with right shoulder, a combination of rotar cuff, oesteoarthritis, and a possible third problem for over 10 years. When i was getting psyio, it was indeed with bands. I should say i am not in pain every day. Update. Well i guess i might be able do the lying down where you are on your back.

Hi. 64 year old year male here. Arthritis in back, hiips, shoulder, and maybe other places too. ☺. But in right shoulder limitted movement because of combination of rotary cuff injury, athritis, and i think i was told somethng else. I have just tried out your standing pilates for seniors. I found a lot of it pretty difficult to do because of the shoulder problem. My question is, in exercises where it is required to say raise both arms above the head at the same time, should i keep both at same level or reach both as high as it is comfortable although the uninjured one would obviously be higher than the other.

Hi there, in answer to your question, if working both arms at the same time, I would raise them both to the height that’s comfortable on the injured arm and no higher. If you’re working them one at a time then it’s fine to work to the range and comfort of the particular arm you’re using. Hope that helps. 😊 With the seniors standing work, keep persevering it’s gets easier with regular practice. Just do what you can and keep doing it until it feels more achievable, you will progress so keep it up 👍

Sometime after doing the standing pilates for seniors, i got pains in various parts of the upper body. Although obviously I can't prove the exercises had anything to do with it. But at the moment anyhow i feel more comfortable doing the other two. .But i will check out your other videos too.

Hi Vivian, yes indeed I would recommend this session for prevention as well as rehabilitation, especially if you are prone to shoulder issues or have previously had an injury. Keeping the shoulder muscles functional, mobile and strong will really help you stay clear of future injury ❤️
