Hi Time, While a cab with AC would be nice, for all you do, a sun shade is what you need. While I haven't specifically looked at them for a 1025R, I'm sure there are several out there that really help with being out in the sun, and there cost should be reasonable that the finance committee would be happy to approve it.

Haven't read through all these comments and don't know if you'll see this given the video is a year old, but you could put your grapple and/or other implements in the bed of the truck and take it out with the chain as you did with the tiller. I've done that myself many times. Have a BX25 and use to have many implements. Mostly I cut and removed firewood for free from peoples yards as I used it to heat my house. Still have the Landpride grapple and love using it. Also, I've done some landscaping jobs preparing areas for seeding and would use a York rake and box blade. Would be a lot quicker and less stress on the tractor than tilling everything as you do. Different strokes for different folks.

Milwaukee Polka playing. Yea have power tiller and bolt on hooks. I do back in mowing around trees and trying to keep the growth down. Getting tougher every year. Getting older and more weeds so it seems. My creek is way back in the trees. It is like a right angle bank trench. 6' deep and over flows to 3' on the tree trunks when it pours from a TS or hurricane. It takes a lot of water off the highway and several wide open lands. I have 7 acres - 4 under grass and trees. Cutting back on them - tough summers and low water.

Another great show. Thanks. I think you have already found what you need to get next. If you had a hydro mower for Casey, then you would be able to safely mow ditches and around ponds. ...if you get a bigger trailer, you are still going to need to tow Johnny out from time to time, so consider getting a goose neck that will carry it all. You may find that you get lots of work just doing "safety mowing" where others (and you) wouldn't dare try using a tractor....Just a suggestion

instead of a cab on the tractor you can get hard fiberglass canopies that bolt onto the antiroll bar, makes a big difference on sunny days, also you get some slight protection when it rains as long as its not windy, i have seen canopies that you can clip curtain like clear pvc sheets onto that can go on and off real quick, you can also roll them up.

Nice video guys. The yard looked great. When I landscaped I would put attachments in the bed of the truck. It seemed to help the truck and trailer ride a bit better. I'm with you about the cab. While it would be really nice to have an air conditioned cab, the type of work I do requires getting on and off the tractor quite a bit. I also have a backhoe, so having a cab tractor would make the backhoe frame much longer. It's just better for how I use the tractor to not have a cab. I'm also with you in not having a long enough trailer. I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for putting in the effort.

My .02 for a bigger trailer, as I've said before I have a 25 (20+5 dovetail) gooseneck and an 18 foot bumper pull. I typically use my gooseneck for everything unless the customer's driveway won't allow for it. That's the only reason I really keep the 18 footer. Great video as usual!

I know you guys have been debating a cab but what about a compromise (if it is available) and just have a canopy or roof that would provide shade while in the sun. Wouldn't help with the dust bowls, but would help with sun. Then you could also use something clear, like plexiglass to make front, back, and door enclosure that would attack to the frame of the canopy for winter work to be a wind block an still be able to see. I don't know if there is even an option for Johnny to have a canopy from JD. Just a thought.

You and johnny did an outstanding job on this property the customer should of been delighted when you left. For the time being I would deff get a shade cover. I believe you can still fold your ROPS with one installed but don't quote me on that. We just retired a 4200 John Deere and it had a cover didn't help much with rain or cold but it helped keep the sun off ya. We replaced the 4200 with a 5060 Kabota and first purchase I made was a shade cover. Honestly for the little guy I would just keep it as it is and add the cover. Maybe your next purchase could be a enclosed cab and keep that your dedicated tilling, dusty guy even bush hogging I'd use the enclosed cab. I ran a enclosed Bobcat with a bush hog on the front and I was good to go. I ran a open cab Bobcat with same bush hog and my face swelled up twice the normal size I can only assume allergies to the grasses I was cutting. Never again. I'll only bush hog in a closed cab. For the ditch work I'd look into getting a arm mower like the Alamo Machete keeps you safe when working around drop offs and designed for that type of mowing.

My truck is 11,500 GVWR, so Max allowable trailer is 14,500 GVWR...for a total of 26,000lb
@bobblack38706 жыл бұрын
Tim- you are correct with 26k and CDL. To clarify for others something I know you know, there is GVWR and GCWR. I must not exceed GVWR or GCWR that the truck manufacturer states (they state both), however even if the trailer is unloaded I cannot legally pull a trailer with GVWR greater than 26k without a CDL. The original post from Andreas was not specific and perhaps you didn't want to get into CDL detail, so your answer was quick but gave me the impression that something about the trailer mentioned would require a CDL.
@TractorTimewithTim6 жыл бұрын
Bob, if I read correctly, you are still asserting that you can pull a trailer rated 26k GVWR without a CDL. That is simply incorrect. The combined GVWR of truck AND trailer cannot exceed 26,000lb. This is very clearly stated in the rule. I can’t see why folks are so confused by it.
