I had a similar reaction as my giant rack that holds all my Gundams sits 2 feet to my right of my computer desk. I looked over and saw 9 finished models and counted 69 (NICE!) that are still NIB.

@@theibault haha i have the same problem, i spend months on each gunpla kit with all the scribing/modifcations/dioramas etc, do i need to buy more? no. do i buy more anyway? yes. do i inturn get distracted by other shiny models and work on them instead? all the damn time

You could say it's the end product, so if you create 10 kitbashed Beastsnaggas out of 20 squids and 10 knobs with some extra bits it's 10, and if you buy a box that says 10 models on the box, that's also 10.

What about Kickstarter-Releases? I bought a lot of Miniatures via Kickstarter over the last two years, which are planned for my D&D-Miniature-Collection. But they didn't end up at my doorstep until now. (And: At least BonesV is starting to prepare to get shipped to me.) At the Moment I see myself with a lot of Miniatures, which won't count, because I didn't bought them right now.

Sounds like starting from zero. So as long as your score is negative at the end of the season, that means your pile of shame has shrunken (barring the bonus points).

I started something similar this month, and have so far finished Pandemic Cthulu (50 models, I think)), 31 models I often need but don't have for D&D (spiders, rats, medium sized wolves, zombies, ghouls, a bear, skeletons, elementals and orcs, all from the Blacklist set) and a few small projects (some 15 moodels, like elemental forms, a Giant and a few Ogres that we needed). I simply wanted to have painted 2 models per day and now set that to (an average of) 3 models per day, it might go to 4. For me, it helps to set a reasonable goal, like "I want to use wolves next session, prime 5 wolves", then there's still room to prime a bit more, and I end up with rats as well (who share a bit of the pallette). I will get a few of the new GW orcs though, and probably very short after their release.

important question, how do pre-orders/kickstarters work for this? i'm assuming it works similar to STL's where you don't add them to your total until you actually have the physical product? cause if not you'd potentially be stuck with a bunch of extra points that you literally cannot remove lol

Question for the masses: How do you think Magnetizing kits for multiple model/unit options should work. Example: I've got a Beastclaw Raiders Start Collecting. It's 5 figures, but the Stonehorn can be built as a Thundertusk, and either beast can have a Frostlord/Huskard or pair of beastriders. So that's 4 options without getting into weapon loadouts. Obviously, if I build it as a single kit/option, It would count as one model (but not a unit, as it's only one model?) If I build and paint it to be any of the four options, would you call that one model, four models, or some other scoring? Thoughts?

One thing I've decided on to keep my pile of shame from starting or growing (I only started painting this year) is to never buy a new box of models unless I only have 1 unfinished model kit that I have already started painting. So far it's working. I like your system though. It would be good for Guy from MWM haha.

Don’t know how kickstarters work but I’ll be having the new Hero Quest and Darkest Dungeon coming in probably the fall/winter season, so lots to paint there Also for this season, even more reasons to finish my Pride themed Sisters of Battle army by the end of the month, get a good start on the season.
