Thanks, wasnt sure if the lock nut on the shaft was for the bearing or a spacer to stop the shaft from sliding through the bearing over time. It was indeed a spacer and I confidently wacked the bearing off.

Was that a P206 ? Is this what you used on the wood splitter ? BTW, did that shaft on the bottom of the I-beam go through into another pillow block ? Thanks

This bearing is traditionally used for static thrust. Or gravitational thrust. It was never designed for linear thrust.
