One of the best aspects of being an airline pilot is that there are no office-politics, you know exactly what is expected from you and you don't have to take job-related bullshit home with you. On the rare occasions when you fly a trip with someone you dislike, you can bid-off of the remaining trips with that person for the rest of the month.

Great video. There are few queries though, at 7:10 the captain announces VNAV speed thrust set for climb but the thrust lever was not brought down to auto thrust position by looks of it the lever was at take off thrust position. Also the captain was manually flying the aircraft with help of FD, and the VNAV and LNAV was switched on later when asked to climb FL390. But the first officer was changing the heading and the altitude on the flight computer even before that while the aircraft was flown manually. How was that possible?
@b777drvr68 жыл бұрын
The subtitles are incorrect. He says VNAV speed Thrust Ref, not Thrust Set. Those are the two FMA's that come up passing 400ft RA on the climb out. As far as VNAV not being engaged you can clearly see it was at 8:27. LNAV was left off as this was a heading departure and selected once given direct to STMSN. The FO is making heading and altitude changes on the MCP in order for the FD's to give proper guidance. Hope that answers your questions!
@jason-craigwoolcock37468 жыл бұрын
Anirban Roy In adding to the above comment, the LNAV and VNAV modes were engaged at various stages but the master autopilot was not engaged. All this does is indeed give the flight director attitude and heading cues for the captain to follow. the captain was flying the entire departure in this video by hand with reference from the flight director. This is why he said that the aircraft was trimmed beautifully, he was feeling it first hand. it's not uncommon for delivery flights out of Paine field to be flown by hand up until the mandatory autopilot altitude. This is why before takeoff, the first officer said 'enjoy'. He meant enjoy flying this brand new bird.
