I have to say, that I’m feeling way better about my Data East Star Wars game. I was considering replacing it with the new Stern Star Wars because I was worried about my machine being less reliable and more expensive to maintain over the coming years. What an eye-opener. Thanks!

If you cant get access to machines to play (im out in the bush) definitely drop $30-50 on some virtual pinball FX3 tables in Steam. Obviously not a real pinball experience, but you get a great idea of the ruleset, shots and audio. I have added several rarer tables i have never played to my must have list, and scratched off a couple of high price high popularity games ,...just cos i didnt gel with them.

I am also wanting to dive into manufacturing pinball machines. I am not well known yet but hope to have my first proto-type done something this year. Not sure what to call my pinball business as of yet right now it is just Pinball Reviewer. xD
@PinballExpert5 жыл бұрын
My suggestion would be a name that does NOT focus on a particular market or group like Homepin it sounds domestic not commercial and i would not want to only appeal to a particular market even if it is the biggest one.. I would name a pinball manufacturing business with either my first or last name depending upon how that sounded by more likely something catchy that sounds good and appealing like Champion Pinball something like that. Actually I quite like that name Champion Pinball, I just thought it up now. Anyway that's my opinion. I hope you do get into manufacturing, more competition WILL improve the quality of games.

It would have been easier to use the same old light bulb sockets, and have someone make an LED bulb that would fit right in the old socket without modification...Then you would not have to buy the entire board for one led that is out.

Struth cobber wish you lived in Melbourne. Looking at getting the new stern vault edition AC/DC Luci . Am a multiple pinball owner but all 90s machines. Have checked ya buying new stern video clip and others , im not sure. Game play looks awesome and reviews great but appears problematic. Honest opinion. 1x new stern AC/DC or classic old school - ( got my eye on a whitewater) . Also looking at the thunderbirds by homepin. I know they are a new company and am hoping they don't cut corners being the new kid on the block trying to build a reputation. Would love a clip on homepin . Any thoughts...?
@PinballExpert6 жыл бұрын
offtapplumber: Older Stern games like ACDC don't have the terrible Spike system, they have the SAM system so they should be ok to buy. Having said that, Stern may have done some cost cutting on the remake vault editions of games like ACDC, Star Trek etc, this wouldn't surprise me but I don't know if they have or not. Thunderbirds by Homepin maybe ok, but I haven't seen a finished example yet so I can't comment yet. I'll do a show on Thunderbirds and other new pinballs eventually. My advice is don't rush in and buy anything from new Pinball makers, it's wise to wait until they've been reviewed and assessed. As for new Sterns I recommend people completely avoid buying ANY new Stern pinball with the Spike system.
@Offtapplumer5 жыл бұрын
Pinball Expert : update , fully checked into ACDC vault edition on your advice, and you are complete correct it is the sam not the spike system. Lock down bar is used in premium model too , !yes. !!! Im told switch to turn on is still in old school position too,,,! So to summarise- have ordered my new acdc premium pinball and await delivery. Was one on the last shipment to apparently be made and come to the great land of OZ. (Stern Last order call was made to me) ??Feel like ive got the new last of the old stock / new school pinballs which haven't cut too many corners. Also might add it was a few grand less than the latest models . Your advice and knowledge and reply has been greatly appreciated and helped to make my final decision into the purchase of my first out of box brand new pinball. True thanks. Really .My shout!! Cheers

I was wondering if you ever played or repaired the Pinball Machine made by company homepin. They created a machine based on the Thunderbirds Tv series. But unlike any other pinball company in the world. The guy that started the company decided to make them in China to reduce cost. I watched this video on KZbin called ''Inside China's Only Pinball Machine Factory'' and the thing that surprised me was that the entire philosophy behind the machine, is that people should be able to maintain and repair the machine them self's. So I was wondering if you heard or seen anything about it. And what your opinion is about the machine.
@PinballExpert5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have experience with Homepins Thunderbirds along with other Brands Like Jersey Jacks Dialed Inn, and others from Spooky and Heighway Pinball to name a few. I will create a show about new pinballs in the near future.
@janklaasen10145 жыл бұрын
@@PinballExpert That would be great. Maybe you can also dedicate videos to 80s and 90s pinballs and then dedicate each episode to one table. Because guys like me can not afford a new table, so I am looking at old ones. I might be able to judge what machines I like to play, but there are plenty of things that I don't know what might be worth considering. For example I seen a Gotlieb Table called Victory. What was pretty cheap compared to tables by Williams from the same era. I think that Gotlieb where behind when it comes to sound, what might have something to do with it. But let say there is a nice Williams table from the same era that is a bit more expensive. Because it's more popular. But that machine has the reputation of certain things breaking down. And the Gotlieb Table has the reputation of being easy to fix. Or doesn't break down easily. Then I would choose the Gotlieb. But I can't really judge any of these things because don't know much about them. And I think that goes for a lot of people. A videos that tells you that kind of stuff would be very helpful. You can do like a buyers guide series or something. Sure there are Pinball table review videos out there. But how a game plays, and if you like it, is just taste. But if your videos focus more on the technical aspect of each table. Then you would be doing something that a lot of people would want to watch. With little competition on KZbin. And if you monetize your videos and upload a lot of them. You can even start to earn some money with your videos. There are plenty of tables that you can talk about, and there are plenty of guys like me that want to learn more about them. Things that the sellers of those tables won't tell you.

I've got a different question. Am I crazy to contemplate building my own? Is it possible to get wiring schematics/ table layout diagrams and code and such for old machines so ya could make ya own copy if ya wanted to? And could ya get all the parts necessary in Aus? Not sure I've got all the necessary skills and tools but I could get them and learn. And I've got a few friends that are experts in metal working, 3D printing, electronics and airbrushing artwork. I've been watching Steve from the pinball room make a Led Zeppelin themed pin (his own design) and it doesn't look that hard.....But it doesn't look that easy either 🤷♂😂 Here's a link to his channel if ya interested and not familiar with it kzbin.info
@AceofSpades-zi6zx Жыл бұрын
you would need not only a lot of knowledge about machines, parts, the functions , node boards, etc. but you would also need tons of money and time to do so. many people don't have this hence why nobody ever makes their own machines.
@philwilliams8328 Жыл бұрын
Forget it! You would end up spending more money on the parts than if you purchased a new machine!

Computer simulators of Pinball games are better than having nothing but still nowhere near the same playing experience. Anyone who is considering buying a Pinball simulator especially one in a Pinball type cabinet should play it before buying. There are plenty on the market and the simulation quality varies alot. I haven't seen one that's faultless AND plays really well YET!

@PinballExpert3 жыл бұрын
There are a few premium versions plus a couple of limited editions and the standard pro versions plus a few re release vault editions. They all have the Sam system. It really comes down to just 2 choices of playfield, the premium or the pro version, all these editions just have different artwork. Buy any of them, the pro will be the cheapest or buy the premium if you want the extra features but avoid the limited editions, you only get different artwork in those, the playfield layout is the same as a premium.

You are the first person to ever mention the "verified" spelling error , I spotted it back in the 3rd show but it wasn't a big deal to me. The content of a video is what really counts but I am going to correct for future shows now that someone has finally mentioned it, and yes that FAQS show question and answer effect does break your concentration, that will be changed/improved in the next FAQs show.
