People always predict that in the future robots will do all the labor and humans will just make and consume art, but it seems clear to me that robots are perfectly capable of that too. Not to say that's a problem. I'd love a future where I have a personalized AI that just cranks out anime for me

Robots being capable of something is not same as having an audience of people enjoying it. As a creative person you like to improve things.

@aarOuOn Жыл бұрын
@@therocktimist Stable diffusion is cool, I don't think it's quite at a point yet where it has much use beyond being used for inspiration, but seeing some of the stuff Midjournies putting out, the tech seems to be improving pretty rapidly. I do worry about the tide of people who's jobs are about to be automated. Hopefully the government steps in to compensate them, because the "learn2code" business ain't gonna cut it with how good LLMs are getting lol Def still excited for those personalized anime though

I make art, and I really don't think your doing it right if you are emotional. I feel it is clinical, it's a process that were your trying to create something perfect for your app. But, eventually, you make mistakes, or have a style. I feel this machine has the ability to do this with out much of a process. You have a creepy human like warmth of mistakes and style. Without any sort of process. Which honestly seems like it could save you time. Really, this art reminds me of the kinda work art schools try to push their students toward.

Artist behind the robots here. I agree with you. But keep in mind the robots are currently in a state where they do mess up and play around, self assess. Is what they are doing art? Probably not for a number of reasons. But it is creative.

They are trying to create machines that makes things only humans should do. Normally, you would think AI should replace the repetitive and mechanical jobs like transportation, cleaning and so on. But we have seen AI perform well enough to replace functions from secretaries to accountants. Any repetitive job can be replaced by a machine if the AI is developed enough to do certain tasks well. What they do is teach the AI the patterns and then the machine is capable of imitate someone's work to a point you would not know if it was made by human or not. Automation can become an huge problem if it starts to replace humans where it shouldn't.

@PindarVanArman7 жыл бұрын
You are right, machine will never replace artists in making art, but they may join artists. Artists should be no more worried about a machine taking their jobs then they are about a new art school graduate taking them. Art is never a competition, we all make it for its own sake. So it doesn't matter what others people or things are doing with it.
@jess33366776 жыл бұрын
I completely disagree. You are copying another artists style which I think is ethically wrong. Style belongs to an artist just as much as their paintings do. So no, as an artist I dont have to worry about machines being another graduate student. I have to worry about machines copying my style and selling it as its own. That is worse than a graduate student. If it was another human copying my style at least it would take the element of human skill to do that, you just cut that all out. Now you can copy a whole bunch of artists and sell their work as your own. This is all so incredibly wrong I dont even know where to begin. Its also disingenuous to say its not a competition. You just made it one and im sure others with robots will as well when our styles are ripped off and sold at lower prices. Although I am a fine artist not a modern artist so the styles are completely different. I have a much more technically and classically advanced painting style so it will be harder than this but im sure in due time someone will make some dumb machine to fake my style too. Drawing and painting for 10 hours a day for years and years of my life will not mean much once you can do that. In a matter of minutes your robot will have my style that I spent money and years cultivating and working towards and it will harm my career and livelihood. Its just portraits right now but give it a few years im sure that will change. In a decade or two people will crank out more complex work. All the years these artists spent working and you just take their style like its no big deal. I can assure you if they were alive they would be incredibly disgusted by what you and others have done. I get your a tech guy and this is cool and all but you really do a lot of harm to people in making things like this. Not to mention cheapening what it is to make art and what art is. I shudder to think of a world where we go to art museums filled with robot paintings, how disgusting a reality is that.

Clearly he doesn't understand what art is; Art whatever the medium or genre is a doing thing. Once completed it either becomes something functional or its abandoned; its about the thinking process and the satisfaction of going through the processes. A machine gets no satisfaction or anything else for that matter; someone can get a machine to create what humans have previously done but they cannot create something new. You might program a machine to create an Impressionist painting style or a Futurist painting style but you wont get a machine to create a new style of genre. Just like you may program a machine to produce a jazz sound or a blues sound but it couldn't create a genre like jazz or blues or impressionism or cubism or any other art form; all it can do is create pastiche.

Actually the time spent on the drawings don't have to be pointless, if it was interesting at the time.. Thinkin' everything would be beautiful & top-of-the-line endlessly would be a bit naive, considering the technological progress.. But even then, if you want to expand the time in which your artworks & style would be interesting, you could use a brain-machine device to make you execute/ĺearn stuff way faster, not being subject to learning for years to master a painting style.. Let me say it like this.. You currently spend 10 hours makin' a single painting.. With this device, you're be perhaps able to animate an entire television series (hours of content) in the very same time period.
