Oh my Glenda, I love this technique. I'm so impressed! It sure is nice when someone else figures out these things and then shares their whole process. I even like the first trees you made, they all turned out very cool.

Thank you Renee! I am so happy to read that. I actually used the soaps from the first batch for the video picture since those showed better that the tree is going through the whole bar.

I love the way you figured out the best way to make the tree design come out. Your second batch came out beautifully, but I think the first one is very cool too.

Thank you, reading that made me smile, I did like how on the first one the position is more random

I love this, you’re so generous to share your lessons learned. I have attempted to make “hanger swirl” Christmas tree soap and have never created what I see in my mind. I’m going to try your method!

I had also tried the secret feather swirl before, and it took so long, I vowed to never do it again (well, not quite that serious). I wish you success and don't be afraid to swirl a second time if unhappy with your first!

@@SoapsbyGlenda I did it! I’m thrilled. It really (mostly) worked. A little leakage but hopefully won’t be disastrous. Also I used spirulina for the green which I might regret if it fades too much (probably will). Thanks again Glenda!

@@CanterburySoapworks yay! I am so happy to hear that! Spirulina can definitely fade or change colors but should still remain visible. I have heard that keeping naturally colored soaps away from the light helps (some keep it inside an open box )

Did you put this on its side to cut. I can’t tell by your video. Beautiful soap
@SoapsbyGlenda
@SoapsbyGlenda 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I wished I had shown more of the cutting. I cut the loaf into four sections. It was a 10” mold, so that meant every 2.5” (so that each tree was visible on top). Then I put each section on its side and cut it in half, so that the tree would still be visible on each bar.

I recently edited the footage of the cut to show it in real time, perhaps it makes better sense here (the latter half of the video): kzbin.info/www/bejne/jae5c5doib-Ujac

thank you for sharing! this was so fascinating! When you say you cut the soap horizontally, did you slice the whole loaf in half lengthwise ( a long cut the length of the loaf across the middle?)
@SoapsbyGlenda
@SoapsbyGlenda 2 жыл бұрын
I am glad you liked it. No, I did not the whole loaf at once horizontally. What I did was that instead of slicing it like a loaf of bread at 1" thickness, I did thick "slices" of about 2.5" thickness, enough to show the whole tree. So out of a 10" loaf, I got four big thick pieces. Each one of these pieces I then cut them horizontally. I hope I make sense, if not let me know.
