My most recent "thrifty" thing was my aunt saved the wood fencing from the 200 foot long 6' N fence that was replaced. I wanted to fence the 40' section on the side of the house going into the backyard. I cut the tops into pickets and had to make different heights because of some rotten ends which I made into a slight "wave design" and a friend made an arbor for the entry and I used an old door (that was sitting in the garage) with a leaded stained glass window on top for the gate and there was even an 18"x48" window of the same leaded stained glass design that I inset into the fence next to the door. It looks so pretty when the morning sun is showing through...and it's at the side of the house that shows from the street. I'm very happy with it.

I was scrolling for videos to watch and found your site and enjoyed it very much. My husband was bicycling in our neighborhood and he came across some lumber that a contractor was discarding from a house build, and my husband was able to get enough to build a raised garden bed for me. I'm growing yellow beans, green peas, acorn squash and tomatoes. I like to grow jalapeno peppers to make hot pepper jelly, and I want to try herb growing and dry my own because the cost of dried herbs is so expensive. I started making my own bread this year and it's a lot of fun. Your yard is beautiful and I got a few more ideas from your gardening style, especially the flower boxes under the windows. I'm hoping my husband will build me two more window boxes because I like to fill them with trailing plants, begonias, and lambs ear. Much success to you with your own gardening projects.

We built our home 25 yrs ago on what was a wooded lot. We kept the hard wood trees that we could and after the house was built we had no land landscaping. We didn’t have the money at the time to go buy things. We had one of firefighters that my husband worked with give us hostas and daylillies. My sister gave us laropie (sp?j. We still have it and have been able to bless others as we have split it up. Since then I have been gifted rose bushes and hydrangeas for my birthdays.

That how done is gleen off of mothers plants that needed split up,then this my cousin in law gifted 3 big chunks of the solid small leaf hostas plus I started with the large blue green, green with white out lines, light green , plus I put In The L shaped front porch garden comfrey plants for a pop of purple seedum behind them and planted mums last fall but only one has a small amount of green and pink day lilies in front of them all in on the long side tiger lilies and pink hydrangea but it doesn't look like it come out again. But have had a set of 10 flowers come up purple star bells and in front of my plum tree a yellow flier with red centers. I will try planting some of them in the L shaped flower garden and split up the yellow flower in the fall the hummingbirds love the purple flowers. And in my back of the house has butterfly flowers and black raspberries on the fence and more black raspberries in the grapevine area and thornless blackberries all free from mothers garden forest. And cherry bushes fence on west side till the neighbor killed all but one all free from seeds from mothers garden and rhubarb in back veggie garden and under the grapevines I always cover the rhubarb and black raspberries with oak leaves till my oak tree was killed, pawpaw tree, white peach tree, and elderberry Bush from a cutting off mothers Bush. The volunteers I've bought were dwarf golden delicious, cherry, plum. I make jams, jellies and apple butter each year.

I also got in contact with a woman I had the most DNA with and she ended up being a relative on my Dad's side who I'd never heard of! Children can be picky. However I had to remember that there food tastes are not developed like our own. The key is serving something new definitely needs to happen when they are very hungry because at that point they will eat anything. I never allowed my children to eat snacks in between meals. If I let them do that, it ruined their appetite for the main meal. I made sure dinner was on the table by five. Around seven they were looking for a snack and that was perfect time to eat something before bed. Love you channel.

Beautiful gardens and the plate rack looks so pretty there! This video was just packed full of things that had and have my interest! My undergraduate degree is in History, so it's nice to hear that someone out there, like I do, loves all things home and also has a more formal appreciation of history. So exciting to learn your background like that! As one of our hobbies, my husband and I do Medieval Re-creation and go camping as Scandinavians did in the 9th century while Viking. My husband has Danish in his background and that has always been a big interest of his. We like making and wearing the clothing they wore as well as the more simple ways of living. As a last note, since I could go on and on about the different things you mentioned, l love the dress! I have bought every earthy color I can get my hands on in that dress. They are so comfortable! Looks way better on you though. 😊

That is so neat! Our area used to have civil war reenactments and I miss going to those! I love history.

Loved loved loved this video!!! As always you give great tips and your garden and home are impeccably beautiful and so comforting. Maybe paint the plate rack white to match the other 2 racks you already have up?
