I love daiquiris, and one of the great things about them is that (like a martini or a manhattan) you don't need ice in the glass if you shake them good and strong. They are great sipping drinks, right out of the glass, no straw, no ice. All that jazz just gets in the way.

My local liquor store has the Plantation Pineapple and I'd never heard of it before stopping in. I'd heard of Plantation, though, and knew it was high quality, so I went for it. The pineapple is now a go-to for me. So glad to see it being used here!

Metal conducts heat better and faster, than glass. This means that more ice melts in a metal shaker than one made of glass. This results in more, not less, dilution. It also means that glass shakers will chill the cocktail slightly faster - although you probably would never notice it.
@StevetheBartender_4 жыл бұрын
The glass has more thermal mass than the tins so it requires more energy to chill which means more dilution. The tins are a better conductor and have a lower thermal mass so require less energy to chill..? ..but agree, you would never actually notice..

Hi, this is a good a place as any to ask this: I drink a mudslide very often, can I just pre-mix it and fill a bottle with it, or will that influence the taste? I guess that mixes with cola or soda will go flat, but I don't know if something will happen with other mixes.

Can you substitute the Luxardo with any cherry Liqueur?
@LemonMeIon5 жыл бұрын
Why not? As long as you like the taste. I usually add a bar spoon of Luxardo syrup from the cherries, which alters the color but still tastes great.
@ChristopherOdegard5 жыл бұрын
The Luxardo Maraschino is very dry in comparison to most other cherry liqueurs. You certainly wouldn't substitute something like Cherry Heering and expect it to be anything like the original (though it might still taste nice). One could certainly use any Italian Maraschino liqueur, of which there are many.
@neoroman05105 жыл бұрын
@@ChristopherOdegard Perhaps dropping the simple syrup then? I still don't have the Luxardo Maraschino, but a sweet cherry liqueur.
@ChristopherOdegard5 жыл бұрын
@@neoroman0510 That seems a good way to keep it a more balanced cocktail, but Luxardo Maraschino is a fairly distinct product. If you substitute Cherry Heering (for example) in for the Luxardo Maraschino, you're going to have a decidedly different drink. In most cocktails, the Luxardo provides a dry spiritousness with a bit of cherry fragrance, and very little sugar to the palate.
@neoroman05105 жыл бұрын
@@ChristopherOdegard Thank you for your suggestion. I actually just tried it with my Kirsberry, which is a popular cherry liqueur in Denmark, and without simple syrup. The cocktail was rather tart but satisfying. Basically all I wanted was an excuse to try out my new bottle of Plantation Pineapple Rum...mmmm! :)

I see rum, I press Like. However, having specifically "Pineapple Rum" seems like a bit of an excess to me. Therefore I substitute 45ml of Pineapple rum for 30ml of overproof Pusser's Rum (56ABV) and 15ml of Pineapple juice. There results should not disappoint.
@ChristopherOdegard5 жыл бұрын
If you haven't tried Plantation Pineapple Rum, I'd encourage you to do so. It is certainly NOT in the same category as a standard flavored rum (like Malibu or a flavored Bicardi). With the Plantation, fresh pineapple is distilled into the mix, as well as being infused and aged into a distilled product. It is rich, complex, and is not sweetened like most flavored rums.
@thicckk16825 жыл бұрын
@@ChristopherOdegard I've heard it is sweetened like most of the plantation range but regardless it is a great rum and there is not much alternatives for it if the recipe calls for it to be used.
@ChristopherOdegard5 жыл бұрын
@@thicckk1682 I don't know that for certain, but I maintain in this cocktail there would be a *significant* difference between enhancing the flavor of distilled sugar with a bit of sugar in comparison to something like Malibu rum which, to be fair, is essentially a rum-based coconut liqueur (and I say that as a person with a bottle of Malibu in his liquor cabinet).
