Funny you post this. Recently, I had a 2012 Cadillac Escalade in my shop, my client had JUST purchased it. Concerns were that the running boards did not work, and the rear air suspension compressor did not work. Did some scantooling around, found that I could not communicate with the running board module, and could not activate the suspension compressor from my tool. Went direct to the PDB, and found that someone had "repurposed" the fuses from the running boards, and the suspension compressor for the trailer brake controller that was installed and since removed, and also to power the interior of the trailer itself. Swapped the fuses back, got the module and the compressor back online, relearned the running board operation, and my client was super happy. I love stupid human tricks!

What an illusion for a 4x4 transfer case lever. It looks like its a linkage shift but really is an electronic type and those seem to have more problems than they are worth, a signal to operate a motor that engages the mechanical forks inside the transfer case. Nice when they work but those aren't all that reliable or robust in the long run.
@gtemnykh3 жыл бұрын
No I think the lever to work the transfer case itself is still very real on these HDs. But you still have an electronic axle disconnect. Been this way for decades.

@@gtemnykh Dodge and I think Ford really screwed the customers when they moved away from true "free wheeling hubs". I think they keep the transfer case front driveshaft and axles turning all of the time then control engagement at the hubs vs. the past system of hubs and the transfer case. Not only that, they went to a "Unitized wheel bearing" which couldn't deal with real world forces like the inner and outer bearing design does. Not sure if they still use that on late models still but just another idiot in engineering with no experience doing their job at Dodge and Ford.
