The customer was so HAPPY to hear that his beloved 2004 Toyota Avalon was back to full health NO PARTS REQUIRED, that he asked me to address a few other small issues to really make it PERFECT:
-P0442 - Small EVAP Leak
-Loud THUMP over bumps in the rear end
-Dash Illumination: Backlight for Odometer, "P", HVAC module buttons
Let's do the final repairs on this Toyota and bring it back to like-new factory condition :)

@@kerrylewis2581 Most people don't like deep geeks; they want the 3 sentence management summary. I was a deep geek in the software industry for 45 years. After I had solved a difficult problem, I wrote an email describing the symptoms, the analysis, the fix, and the validation. One of the attendees said: This note was not exactly clear on one point. Do you watch the Car Care Nut? That guy was at 100K subs in 2021 just doing vids out of his home garage. A year later he was at 200K and left the dealership and opened up his own 4000 sq. ft shop. He made it made it sound as if it was all made possible due to YT. And now he's at 1 Mil and increased his shop space again with a separate unit just for making videos with no outside noise.

Otherwise that car could have run for another 10 years without any issues. So the customer certainly made the right choice to have his brought back to scratch.

My MKIV golf didn't have HVAC illumination but after doing research found out that the HVAC module got it's illumination from the factory radio which received a CAN bus signal to turn on the illumination. If you replaced the factory radio with an aftermarket one, then you loose HVAC illumination. Im sure you could tap into another illumination circuit but after finding that out, I just gave up and lived with dark HVAC controls. I remember as a kid watching my mom fix Christmas lights that way. She had an entire kit of bulbs and various tools to ensure every strand was working. She would spend hours making sure it was all 100% before putting them up. When the season was over, she would wrap them around rolls of news paper to ensure they never got tangled up. Every single year I would watch her for hours testing strands and replacing bulbs the same way by undoing the tiny wires and pulling them out of the sockets. She would take strands that didn't work anymore and remove all of the bulbs to refresh her kit of Christmas light repair. Watching you dig that bulb out of the socket just reminded me of the good ol times.
