On the plus side, every studio that has tried to move to using AI art has crashed and burned, there's extensions that people make blocklists for which you can use to (almost) get rid of AI sites and make google image search actually usable. And maybe my pattern recognition is just superhuman, but it feels like I can recognize AI art no matter what. Even if the text and the pupils and the hair and the hands are perfect I'll still have that alarm going off in my head. No matter what, AI art won't fix its own rotten core, that being its uselessness.

You won't convince me Google will ever be usable again no matter the plugins, unless you can eliminate all the covert ads inserted in there or all the results being reddit posts not to mention the "AI" answers. It's gone and it aint ever comin back.

I also don't think ai is ever going to replace art. Most people will prefer actual human creativity over anything that was just made by pressing the instant art button. If anything using only ai gets any credit it always comes with a lot of backlash. By the way i don't think art is exactly an expression of emotions. I think it can also be a way to show off your skill. If someone paints a realistic picture of a bear for example it doesn't mean he has some emotional connection to the bear. It just means he was showing his skill in painting something realistic.

Yeah I was kinda vague with my explanation but I'd consider external expression where it's something designed for other people to connect to it instead of an actual expression of yourself. I'd also probably put another axis of skill where you can have a high amount of skill or a lower amount of skill. It's all theory and to be honest art is essentially what you make of it at the end of the day.

I have no fears of AI having any real traction in modern media. Art will still have direction and most things will stay as in. With that in mind it will absolutely be used in a ton of schlock and outright scams. So look forward to that.

The primary issue with AI (or as Iike to put it, "Generative Media" because lets be real, AI is a super inaccurate term that only exists to hide GM behind actual helpful tools that share the same name) is that the foundation is built entirely off of exploitation. Any piece of information anyone has put on the internet, private or no, has been scraped and stolen for the sole purpose of fuelling this technology. This indiscriminate scraping has led to private medical records, photos of actual people, and even CSEM found in datasets, and that's the stuff we DO know about. Generative Media is a smokescreen for the largest amount of data theft and egregious violation of Fair Use laws in human history, all so it can repackage all that data back to you, but worse. It quite literally cannot exist without this severe exploitation, and any attempt at normalizing Generative Media is normalizing this exploitation. This is why any sort of usage of Generative Media, no matter how small, has been met with extreme backlash. Any inch given to grifters and corporations that are more than willing to abuse Generative Media will immediately be used to take a mile. Until this technology has been regulated to hell and back (which hopefully is very soon), it can not and should not be tolerated.
