There's no doubt that Roger Waters was extremely brilliant, but w/o the others, especially Dave Gilmour, his songs were empty. Dave Gilmour added so many great songs and contributed to so many Waters songs with his guitar that helped personify the Pink Floyd sound. Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd, not one member.
@rosannaburt30482 жыл бұрын
Equally good tho just different strengths I think for sometime they need each other least in beginning I do that's prob why they were able to go separate I don't think right away Roger is brilliant and even David would say so ... Many time he said this maniac on to something or is right just both like there way I guess

I was at the 1st and 3rd show of Floyd doing the wall in Los Angeles. The first show the curtains started on fire from the pyrotechnics display early in the show so after they got the fire out they had to rewind the background movie and start the concert over from the beginning. There was no pyrotechnics display in the 3rd show. If there is a decent quality video of any of the wall concerts in the US, I would sure like to know.

Same here. My parents were 20 & 22 when the Beatles came to America, and their lives are a long list of wasted opportunities, because they've barely ever gone to see ANYONE. Now that everyone's *old*, my mom has gone to see Paul McCartney a couple times. My dad has seen the Rolling Stones on their "Past Our Prime" tour (or whatever it was called), and Bruce Springsteen performing his "Can You Believe They Call Me a Singer?" album in its entirety, plus four hours of encores.

I have Spanish ancestry but never been to Spain, don't even know the language. I looked it up, and Roger Waters performed The Wall in Madrid and Barcelona; he played each city two nights in a row. Pink Floyd's last tour in '94 included one night each in Barcelona and San Sebastian. I couldn't find info on David Gilmour's solo tours, but he certainly played outside the U.S. and the UK. I'd be surprised if he *didn't* play Spain. There's no excuse for not listening to these masters of music! ;)

God, that's a great feeling, to know there are people like you, now 14 years old, and appreciating great masterpieces like The Wall! Good for you, and let word get around. I like your interpretation of the album. You have a fresh outlook. That is one of the advantages of being as young as you are. Riots are featured prominently in the film version, along with police brutality. Crowds trampling over each other, just to see a rock star. Madness!

Nope. Roger was a control freak but so were many great artists, Richard Wright being fired was an unamious decision by the whole band, and Roger wrote the lyrics for all the classic songs. They are all equal, they are all Pink Floyd. Now just listen to the music, please.
