That voice!! He's certainly not the best technical singer, but nobody else's voice punches you in the gut like his does. When he sings One of My Turns and Don't Leave Me Now, it is visceral... you feel that.

He really knew how to take advantage of his peculiar/ not so sophisticated voice to trigger deep emotions in the listeners

Like Peter Gabriel of Genesis and Rick Davies of Supertramp, Roger Waters was a master of melodic narration. He isn't really singing, but conveying social commentary.

what makes the song even sadder is how roger is holding himself rocking back and forth
@madkittyjoey706 жыл бұрын
Oh yes! I found a fairly recent video on here of just Roger singing the song and most of what he does is sit and rock back and forth. That's how most people can tell Don't Leave Me Now is a sad song.

What I like so much about Roger Waters is that he's one of the very few people who can sing with so much emotion. It's pretty obvious in most of the songs on The Wall album that he's gone through a lot of hurt and anguish...a father who was killed in combat, an overprotective mother, and a broken heart b/c of being cheated on.

OK Pink Floyd has always appealed to young kids coming of age feeling like no one understands them or the emotions they have. I can still remember falling in love with Floyd at the age of 15 I'm 30 now. And on days where emotions run high I fall in love with them all over again.
@lilRadRidinHood4 жыл бұрын
I fell in love with them at age 15 as well...now in two years I will be 70. Gilmour and I are almost the same age, and we were both in our early 20's when I saw him on stage...I felt our eyes met with my then fantasy-driven observations. Best night of my young life!

It was the greatest therapy I could have ever had. Even though the song is haunting and sad, it makes you feel like someone or some thing understands the pain. The screams feel real. It got me thru it.
