Waters is very naïve regarding negotiating with Putin. Russia and Ukraine BOTH joined a petition to join NATO. Putin has made it his goal to reconstruct the old USSR. But China is no bastion of ethical governance by any measure. Their treatment of ethnic minorities, what they've done in Tibet, the crack down on the freedoms promised to Hong Kong, and the constant refusal to acknowledge Taiwan's independence after 70 years of autonomy.

At 6:50 "In fact, as far as I can recall, who has the Chinese invaded?" Roger doesn't even know about the war between China (PRC) and Vietnam in 1979, the Sino-Vietnamese War (This is not the Vietnam War USA fighted) , and Sino-Indian War in 1962. Sadly he isn't speaking the truth. He isn't stupid, it sounds right what he says when you hear it and don't know everything about the situations, but he is missing key elements of the stories he is telling, and lacking principles. First of all he says that Joe Biden is a war criminal because he is sending Aid to Ukraine. First of all it's the obligation of the US to do so as a NATO member, but more importantly, Waters says that the US should rather encourage Zelensky to negotiate instead of sending aid. The problem is that Putin is a "dictator", or at the very least an autocrat that sees the "west" as his archenemys, and he is an imperialist. He won't negotiate. He wants economic harm to the "west", and butcher the people he hates. So if we go after Waters logic we would just give Putin a green light to executing his imperialist plans, destroying democracies and butchering the people he hates. So Biden is in no means a war criminal. That much about Ukraine. He also says that the US is trying to expand towards Russia, but in reality NATO is just welcoming a sovereign free state that is eligible to join into the organization, that has every right to do so. About Taiwan he says that it is a part of "China", and aigan says the US is trying to expand. In reality the US is just protecting a democratic state from getting attacked by "dictators". Also, Taiwan (ROC) is in fact not a part of China (PRC). The ROC is in fact sovereign, the PRC holds no power over it. However they want to invade it because they are also imperialists trying to conquer the world, and because they want to own the economy, and also want its geographical location wich is strategically important. Taiwan (the ROC) is simply just not recognized by most states or the corrupt UN, because China threatens wich economic sanctions wich is part of their Propaganda, so all of these countries are afraid of doing so, since they hold strong economic ties with China. That is exactly the mistake Waters does with this argumenation of "the whole world recognizes Taiwan as China", wich they in reality don't, just on paper because of Chinas threats. So aigan Waters argumentation is flawed. Not trying to say that the United States are the good guys that are only trying to protect humans and democracy (wich they aren't), there are other reasons too, but that doesn't mean it's not the right thing for morals. He also arguments by saying "who have the chinese invaded", but that's just because China never had enough power or other problems. Either way, that doesn't change the fact that China is literally preparing the country for war on a massive scale, and they are gonna go into war, at the very least if you don't stop them. He talks about "do the reading", but he is missing out on things, and his logic is just flawed. We don't need more people like him if they follow the same flawed logic.

However, due to US intervention, the CCP without a strong navy at that time has no ability to unify Taiwan. The CCP then established the People's Republic of China (PRC) on 1949. The civil war continues... 5) In 1971, UN Resolution No. 2758 ruled that the PRC had obtained the representation rights and all legal rights originally owned by the ROC in the UN. That means the PRC is China’s only legal regime under international law, and now PRC is also China’s only legal regime recognized by 180 countries around the world, including the USA. "The USA recognizes the Government of the PRC as the sole legal Government of China. Within this context, the people of the USA will maintain cultural, commercial, and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan." Joint Cummunique on the Establishment of Diplomatic relations between the PRC and the USA (December 16 1978) 6) In Republic of China constitution, today still, ROC territory including mainland China. Therefore, according to international law, international reality, and the wishes of the 1.4 billion Chinese people, Taiwan is part of China. PRC has every right to protect its soverign integrity. The first communiqué (February 28, 1972), known as the Shanghai Communiqué, summarizes the landmark dialogue begun by President Richard Nixon and Premier Zhou Enlai during February 1972. Some of the issues addressed in this communiqué include the two sides' views on Vietnam, the Korean Peninsula, India and Pakistan and the Kashmir region, and perhaps most importantly, the Taiwan (Republic of China) issue (i.e., Taiwan's political status). Essentially, both sides agreed to respect each other's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The United States formally acknowledged that "all Chinese on either side of the Taiwan Strait maintain there is but one China". The second communiqué (January 1, 1979), the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, formally announces the commencement of normal relations between the United States and the People's Republic of China. There is no Pink Floyd. Roger waters is the co-founder. He left Pink Floyd the band and went solo. The Band without him continued for decades with successful albums and tours. Roger's solo career, his music, didn't fair so well. No he's back to playing the old Pink Floyd material. I though Roger limited views was exposed several times by the host, as were some of the hosts quick replies. The host is certainly not ignorant. He has a prime time slot and brought up some interesting points that only Roger's personal beliefs support. You should know if you have not watched Roger for long he's suspect of many forms of authority and could be classified as holding a dislike of America, American politics, and military. But you think none of this matters and we can’t know why something happened🤦‍♂️ these are the exact things that are looked at in history to know why a conflict took place. Roger Waters is wrong about Gorbachev having been promised that NATO would not expand to the East. It's a favorite talking point of Putin's, but Gorbachev himself publicly denied it in an interview. It never happened. Roger Waters is also wrong about the US being entirely isolationist until Pearl Harbor attack. The US adopted Lend-Lease Act in March, 1941. Pearl Harbor didn't happen until December that same year. Waters should stop spreading disinformation.

ROC (which is Taiwan's country name for short) was a founding member of the United Nations, and was recognized as the rightful government of all China until its membership replaced by PRC in 1971. What Roger said "International Community accepts Taiwan as part of China since 1948" is deadly wrong. Go read more yourself, Roger. Today 14 countries, which are also UN members, recognize Taiwan as a country. Are these countries not part of the "International Community"? Some major countries including Japan and US never "recognize" Taiwan as part of China, they only "acknowledge" China's position on this issue. That means they respect China's position but not necessarily agree to it. China knew it all along but China lies to the world that all countries "recognize" it. Roger is brainwashed by China's propaganda. By history, by law, and by status quo, China's claims on Taiwan are false. In PRC's history, CCP killed millions of its own people. UN has had many resolutions that were not get executed well. Everybody knows that. If all UN resolutions are effective, we'll have no war and a wonderful world since UN established. Diplomatic relations is just one condition for defining a country according to international law. Taiwan satisfy all conditions as a de facto country by international law. UN may have influence on official diplomatic relations between countries, but it cannot influence diplomatic relations at all level, let alone determine diplomatic relations for members. You define a country solely based on a UN resolution shows your thinking and understanding of international affair are pretty narrowed.

Roger Waters has poor knowldge about Asia history and recent development overall. How could he endorses China so much in this video as if he knew well about China? At 6:50 "In fact, as far as I can recall, who has the Chinese invaded?" Roger doesn't even know about the war between China (PRC) and Vietnam in 1979, the Sino-Vietnamese War (This is not the Vietnam War USA fighted) , and Sino-Indian War in 1962. And Korean War where North Korea initiated the war under the support of China PRC. China sent troops to fight in this war. Michael maybe is just too shy or polite to point out Roger's fault.

Especially now, after 18 months of absolutely brutal war perpetrated against Ukraine, untold number of war crimes, man-made environmental disasters, the issuance of an international arrest warrant for Putin, and relentless lies of the Russian propaganda directed at, both their own people, and the rest of the world. Russia has not expressed any willingness to negotiate unless it is on their terms; in other words, they are not willing to cede an inch of illegally occupied and annexed territory which they are brutalizing. Please tell me how it is you agree with Mr. Waters that, in this situation, we (the West) should just stop helping Ukraine defend itself, and somehow force it to sit at the table with the murderous aggressor who is not even considering any real negotiation?
