And I’m talking about this one, specifically. It’s great on Ummagumma. It’s great on the Pompeii version. But something about it on this studio take just melts my brain.

I would love to see an album of all the various recordings of this musical line...here named Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up. It is such a serious, ominous, and fascinating piece.

I always thought "Come In... your time is up" is a better title than "careful with that axe". With this version I picture a science-fiction nightmare not unlike Soylent Green, 1984, Brave New World , The Island, Logan's Run or several Doctor Who stories. With "axe" I see Eugine putting on a hockey mask and chasing after some not-too-bright kids at a summer camp!
@Joink-zq2tb4 жыл бұрын
L. Salisbury careful with that axe Eugene is a song about a guy named Eugene dropping Gilmour’s guitar. I know it’s a lot less bombastic than what you would think it would be

I actually saw this same Playlist giving credit to The Grateful Dead for this and several other songs on this album. .I was born in 1975, so.....I know better. For their mastery, and diversity, and depth, this is by far my deep down favorite band. Live in Pompeii...I mean come on, you'd be hard pressed to top any of this stuff these days or ever! Also, I remember this music from before I was born.
